“High Close Lodges for a Great Holiday Destination”
House could not be faulted. Clean modern and well furnished. Christine there to meet and greet and was very friendly. Good situation for getting to all parts of the main island. Quiet residential area with no traffic noise.
“A pleasant surprise”
We visited Orkney for a week in June 2010, and were pleasantly surprised by High Park Lodges. We arrived early, but it was no problem to check in at all. The quality and completeness of the lodges was very high, a lot better than what I am used to in my own house, I must admit. Best shower I've ever seen in Great-Britain! Service was prompt, efficient and very friendly, and Christine made us feel right at home from the start. It almost felt like being in a Hotel. Add to that the free Wifi internet and a very good restaurant closeby, and our Orkney holliday became perfect. We will certainly return here next year! Ps the Highland Park stills belching peat smoke are a pleasant sight over breakfast...
“High Park-High Standard.”
A wonderful welcome to a perfect holiday home in a superb location on a wonderful island.
“A home from home”
Christine was there to meet us, and we felt that if we had problems she would be available. It was a good place to return to at the end of a busy day: it really felt like home. It is some way out of town, but is in a pleasant area; and not as far from the town centre once you get your bearings. But it seemed a long way when first arriving. Overall, it was excellent. If I have any complaint to make it is the light nights - an Orcadian fault in June! Dark curtains would have been appreciated.
“A high quality and convenient place to stay”
The owners Christine and George are very friendly and helpful and the lodge was very well equipped with everything in good condition. The location on the edge of Kirkwall is very quiet and very convenient for travelling to different parts of Mainland as well as ferries to other islands. Orkney is a fascinating place for a holiday and even the cold weather did not spoil our stay - at least there was virtually no rain.
“We think you will be hard pushed to do better.”
We booked over the internet; it was easy and Christine responded quickly to my emails. We texted when we docked at St Margaret Hope and she was waiting for us when we arrived. Our chalet was clean, well equipped with quality items; the property must be very well insulated as our first week was cold but the property was cosy inside. The wifi was an unexpected bonus. We'd never been to Orkney before and thought carefully about where to stay. The property possibly doesn't have the views of some competitors but that is more than offset by its central location on the Mainland, the proximity to the facilities of Kirkwall and ease of access to the ferries. Our only carping criticism is that a table big enough to spread an OS map out on in the lounge would be nice; it would make planning the next day's adventure easier. We hope to come back but its a very long way from Suffolk.
“Beautiful lodge which felt very private and relaxing”
We stayed in the three bedroom lodge for a week. It is beautifully furnished, very clean and bright. It was lovely and warm and inviting when we arrived at 11.15pm off our ferry. The sitting room is a very decent size with lovely comfortable furniture. The kitchen is well equipped and again a decent size with lovely table and chairs. The bedrooms are all lovely and bright and clean and the beds themselves were very very comfortable. There is a high wooden fence all the way round the sides and the back of the house where the garden is situated which makes it feel like you're away from it all. Very quiet and private. The balcony has 2 benches and a table which we were able to use at least one day when we stayed. If you feel like a meal out or a few drinks you don't have far to travel as The Lynnfield Hotel is right alongside which is hard to believe as you feel like you're away from everything. It is a 4 star hotel and we enjoyed a lovely meal there and were very warmly welcomed. We all enjoyed our stay in the lodge and will definitely be returning. We had a bit of a delay when departing because of the weather but Christine was very helpful. Highly recommended.
“A Real Home from Home”
The lodge is very comfortable, very warm and cozy, really well-equipped with everything you might need and very welcoming. Also a great location. One slight negative was that it could be better signposted as it was difficult to find and the sat-nav was no help!!
“Convenient ,comfortable, spacious accommodation, ideal for family”
We really enjoyed staying in the chalets which are ideally situated for sightseeing around mainland. The high quality of fittings and furniture was a very pleasant surprise and the only thing lacking was a panoramic view. Parking was easy , it was a quiet location, and the chalets were really superb. We appreciated the washing/drying facilities ( as we had a wet week!) and he kitchen was extremely well equipped. We would definitely like to return.
The high park lodges are at a great standard and situation for either a holiday or to put collegues in to stay whilst they are working in Kirkwall. I booked out most of the cottages for about a month for a production which was happening in the St Magnus festival. They were brilliant, very comfortable, spacious and clean. Christine was very understanding and sensitive to the needs of our company. I would highly recommend the lodges and use them again if we ever get the chance to go back to Orkney.
