“Lovely cottage in beautiful location”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2013

One of the best equipped and nicely decorated and furnished cottages we've been to. Children loved the playground, kayaks etc. Quiet location, friendly owners

Response from the owner Hello Alan, Thank you for your review. So glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you again sometime.

“What a wonderful place!”

Reviewed 21 Aug 2011

Our children were really amazed to see that the current line terminates at Porthllisky Farm. And yes, it is a bit end-of-the-worldish there which means you can start the Pembrokeshire Coastal Walk right from the cottage's doorstep. It's only a five minute walk to the small pebbly bay which feels quite private which we found perfect for trips with the provided kayaks. (For more action, people and surfing we drove to Whitesands Beach!). And if there was a rainy day - about 4 out of 13 - we enjoyed to stay indoors by the fireplace, read for hours on the comfy sofas and eventually cook dinner in the fully fitted open plan kitchen. Everything is thoughtfully planed and made with carefully selected materials, like the slate on the floor. No clutter, just the right bit of decoration it needs to make it a nice and welcoming place. There are three other cottages around, but we did not see much of the other families even though we spent a lot of time in the gamesroom plying table-tennis. Although the cottage is so remote it is only a 10 min drive to the shops and cafes in St Davids where you can get everything you will need - most importantly a wetsuit. And if not - Jan Eliot is so friendly and helpful - she will sort something out for you!

“Cosy Comfort in a Fantastic Location”

Reviewed 9 Mar 2011

If you know Pembrokeshire you will be aware that the St. David's Peninsula is a stunningly beautiful part of a lovely part of Wales. If you don't know it, now's the time to put that right and an ideal location for your holiday base are the cottages at Porthllisky Farm, if you are couple on an out of season short break, as we were, or a family during school holidays. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is only a field away from the cottages so it's a great location if you interested in walking, wildlife or photography. The little nearby cove of Porthllisky is almost private as the only way you can access it is on foot. Proximity to the City of St. David's (in reality a village) is a plus as it can provide all the basics with some "proper" shops such as a butcher and a greengrocery. Try some of the super Pembrokeshire meat, cheeses and not forgetting potatoes! The cottage/barn conversion was warm and cosy with every possible requirement provided. The contrast between the traditional features of the barn, such as the old doors, and the contemporary fittings has been beautifully thought out. Even if the rain had been lashing at the windows, which it wasn't - the sun shone all of the time - we would still have had a wonderful time and fully intend to stay at Porthllisky again. Dreaming of it now!

“A great place for St Davids & walking the coastal path”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2010

We had a good stay and found time to relax a little. Boia is part of a complex of cottages, but each one is very private. The coastal path is only yards from the door.Everything we needed was provided; even wood, bikes and canoes and a welcome pack of wine and delicious Welsh cakes! Thanks to Jan & Rob for being so welcoming and friendly.

“Great -comfortable and beautiful place to stay!”

Reviewed 15 Oct 2010

Any easy going place that allows dogs and caters for disabled people deserves high ratings in my book, but Boia has added benefits:beautiful cottage, marvelous location, loads to do onsite/near by and thoughtful hosts. I've been lucky to stay in more super-luxurious places (excessive really) because i travel a lot, but this was definately stylish, comfortable, very clean and spacious so deserves the luxury rating. St David's is absolutely charming. We had great weather but would have enjoyed rainy days to relax in the gamesroom or cottage with wood stove, a good book and home cooking (kitchen was v. functional-not often you get that at a rental! You're not supposed to leave dogs alone btw so we ate in a bit but you can eat in the pubs with your dog, yey). Many kayaks, bikes, reading material and games onsite to enjoy. While there are other guests on site it's still quiet and private enough to have your own space (though i enjoyed chatting with the other guests in the games room). If you're disabled, you can't see the ocean from the cottage but could likely tootle over the 2 or 3 small fields on your scooter in 5mins for marvelous cliff top views-the last 20 feet onto beach is a narrower foot trail though. The picturesque boat quay is right next door to farm. My mom, who is limited by severe arthritis walked down onto the beach once. She loved it, we loved it. There are other beach/cliff areas you can drive right up to for good disabled access. Husband and I could access the cliff trails and walk the dog for miles right from the cottage. The jetboat trip on the crazy tides/waves surrounding ramsey island was a blast and the outdoorsy biologist in me was happy to see plenty of wildlife walking the cliffs. Whitesands beach was just perfect for swimming and body surfing!! I love Pembrokeshire and this place proved a great base to enjoy it- 2 week stay would be perfect. Hmm, makes me want to move back to Britain sun or no sun...Enjoy!

“idyllic peaceful location”

Reviewed 16 Jul 2010

This was our second stay in Boia and was as good as remembered - even the weather, as warm as the welcome from Jan and Rob. The location is superb with lovely views from the garden and just a short stroll to the coast path and idyllic, virtually private beach. The accommodation is excellent; stylish, comfortable and well-equipped both inside and out. St David's is nearby for shops, eating out and exploring. I am a wheelchair user and Boia is thoughtfully, but unobtrusively, designed for convenience. We enjoyed sampling Rob's new potato crop fresh from the fields! Thank you for a most relaxing break.

“It was all perfect.”

Reviewed 16 May 2010

Right from the minute we arrived we felt very welcomed and relaxed. The accomodation was outstanding all beautifully finished and so clean and comfortable. The surrondings were lovely being set on a working farm being able to have early morning walks around the fields to the little beach and following the coastal paths- perfect for our dog a real holiday for her. At the time of year we went it was still sharp cold winds and there was nothing more lovely than starting up the log burner in the evenings which filled Boia with warmth. We went with family who stayed in the other barn conversions and we found Boia perfect for the centre of evening meals around the open dining table.Jan put lovely touches with welsh cakes and wine and a pint of milk which just made it all. I would highly recommend Boia for a getaway which really left you returning home feeling you had relaxed. It was beautiful.

“family stay at Boia, Christmas 2009”

Reviewed 5 May 2010

We have spent two Christmases at Boia. Our family of two adults, two energetic boys (ages 12 and 9) and a small girl (aged 4), absolutely love it! The location is wonderful - right alongside the coast path and within walking or cycling distance of St. Davids. Bicycles are provided, and cycling trips to the beach at Whitesands is a great way of getting a feel for the environment and the surrounding farms and landscape. Boia is a really comfortable cottage, which manages to feel both spacious and cosy. The large main space was great at Christmas time for games and all sorts of play, and when the wood burning stove was lit, we snuggled down and listened to the wind outside. The facilities are all excellent - and our boys love the communal games room for pool and tabletennis. You get a really warm welcome at Boia, with little friendly touches which help you relax, like flowers and wine waiting when you arrive. It's a really special place.

“cosy welsh bolt hole”

Reviewed 19 Apr 2010

The house was refurbished to a very high standard. There was a bottle of wine and a vase of flowers on the table, pint of milk in the fridge and a box of home made welsh cakes to welcome us. Facilities were very good. All mod cons were included. No extra charge for logs for wood burner. I felt that the owners were very generous of spirit. Holiday houses that I have stayed in previously tend to have lots of rules and regulations to stick to, - not this one. The atmosphere is very laid back and relaxed. Location is brilliant. A short walk through 3 fields, and you were at a beach that is not accessable by car, and is therefore lovely and quiet.

“Superb accommodation in a great location”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2010

We received a warm and friendly welcome from the owners. This barn conversion was extremely comfortable, spacious and child friendly. We all loved the wet room! Good location, just a short drive from St Davids. Just a short walk to a quiet beach where kayaks can be borrowed free of charge. Great gamesroom and courtyard, equipped with barbeques and sandpit, adjacent to property. We are due to return for a third time later this year.
