“Great for a relaxing stay in an amazing area”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2012

Luisa and Colin were good hosts. The villa was comfortable but could do with a little updating to make it even better. Position was great, with wonderful views, but the parking was challenging - luckily we stayed next to a great family and were able to co-operate to sort this out. It was great to be able to chill in the pool at the end of the day enjoying the views, and we were lucky to have fantastic weather so that we could eat outside morning and evening. Our daughters loved the company of Reg the cat!

“Rooms with a view!”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2011

One of the most peaceful and beautiful locations we have stayed in. Wonderful memories of sitting on the terrace outside the well-appointed house high in the Tuscan hills, with a distant view of the leaning Tower of Pisa, wooded hills all around, birds singing, a glass of local wine from the Colle Verde vineyard (north of Lucca)in my hand - absolute perfection! We loved this part of Italy and will be sure to visit again. Lucca is a must-see place, which we preferred to the busyness of Florence. Luisa and Colin were very friendly and helpful hosts, even offering to do an initial shop for us prior to our arrival. The drive up from the road requires a bit of skill and good tyres, but our two drivers were experts by the end of the week!

“Nice place, amazing view -, scary drive!”

Large rooms, nice old farmhouse that's been recently renovated. Owners very friendly. Amazing restaurant just a couple of miles down the road. Amazing views, but there's a reason - the last 400m (ish) drive up to the property is steep - serious hairpin bends on narrow road.

“Lovely house, stunning views”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2011

We had fantastic weather, the house was immaculate and very well appointed. The views from the terrace and balconies are stunning, you can see the leaning tower! Lovely grounds with orange and olive trees, kids loved the freedom. Very easy trip to Pisa or Lucca, our favourite.

“Great stay for all the family”

Reviewed 19 May 2011

We went to La Lucertola to celebrate my Mother's 60th birthday. We were 4 adults and two boys (5 and 18mth). We all had an amazing time. The location is great (right between Pisa and Lucca) and the farmhouse is nestled into the top of a Tuscan hill. The view that greets you in the morning is soul-nourishing, at night you have the thousands of fireflies for company that makes you feel like you're in the middle of a Disney movie! Luisa and her family have struck a great balance between providing you with what you need (and thoughtful extras) and backing off to let you enjoy the farmhouse as if it's your own. I can heartily recommend a visit, we can't wait to go back. Don't miss out on using the pizza oven for the most gorgeous pizzas ever (if I do say so myself).

“Perfect Tuscan holiday hideaway”

Reviewed 16 May 2011

Comments - This is an amazing hideaway retreat and such a treasure to find. We loved it from the moment we climbed the fab rustic italian road up to the house...laughing all the way up! The farmhouse is perfect and we spent most evenings perched on the balcony watching the fireflies twinkling in the olive groves and listening to the owls and the occasional wild boar and her piglets! amazing! You cant help but just stare out to the endless views and forget about work and home life back in the UK. Brilliant! This was a much needed holiday where both of us truely relaxed. Places to Visit - We visited the obvious Pisa and were really surprised. It was so much better than either of us had anticipated. We went on a sunday and there was a lovely bric a brac/antique fair going on through the back streets of pisa that was great. Plus parking is free on a sunday! Florence - a beautiful city. Had an amazing lunch and spent all afternoon walking round. Siena - The absolute highlight of our holiday. If there is one place you must visit this is it. It is beautiful! It is a medieval city on the top of 3 hills and the buildings are amazing. It has a real tuscan feel to it, tradional italy at its best. We got the train to florence and siena and this was definaltely the best option. You can park for free at san guiliano terme and get the 10 minute train to pisa central then on from there. The trains in italy are so cheap and were on time and quick. This was so much easier than driving and having to worry about parking etc. Definately recommend Suggestions - *I would make your 'La lucertola' sign at the bottom of the hill more pronounced. It is currently in black paint on dark wood and if you miss it you end up going up the wrong side of the hill! Painted in white there is no excuse to miss it! We will most definaltely be back in the future. We have fallen in love with it. Love alex and andy

“Lovely quiet house with fantastic views of Pisa”

Reviewed 7 May 2011

Had an excellent week based in this house. The house is well equipped with spacious bedrooms and comfortable beds. It is peacefully situated on a steep hillside with far reaching views over Pisa, which is easy to reach by car or bus. The south facing terrace was perfect at this time of year; the views and the interesting wildlife in the olive groves meant that the cameras were in almost constant use. Luisa and Colin were friendly and helpful - Colin even got the pool up and running by the end of our week - an unexpected bonus even if the water hadn't had time to warm up!

“Perfect”

Reviewed 29 Nov 2010

La Lucertola has fantastic views of the valley and Pisa below. Colin and Luisa did everything to make our trip comfortable and spectacular. They were very accomodating and easy to work with. This is my number one choice for staying in Italy.
