Very Good

“Great house and location”

Reviewed 10 Feb 2015

This is a really well kept and cozy little vacation house. It's extremely close to the beach as well as the town of Puerto Morelos. We stayed here with a group of 6 people total and all were extremely comfortable in the shared space. Each room is private and most have balconies. I suggest you enjoy a sunset on the top roof as well as hop over to town and have dinner at chimichurri. Be sure to try the local fish (bocanete) at a restaurant for lunch or dinner -- it's delicious~!~ The owners, Jim and his wife, are really nice. They live next door but you'd never know they were there. The house also has some bikes available for you to ride out into town on your leasure. Never a taco too far away! To sum it up -- great place to stay, great location, very comfortable, and good for a family or just a group of friends that want to enjoy the culture of the area (outside of a silly resort)!

“Casa dos Delfines was a wonderful location for our extended family holiday in Puerto Morelos”

We were warmly welcomed to this immaculate rental home, by the owner Jim. Our family comprised 3 generations, consisting of 6 adults and 4 grandchildren, ages 10 - 17. We made it work, with the 2 younger boys sleeping on air beds in their parents' very spacious 3rd floor room. The 2 teenaged girls took the bunk bed room (which could sleep 3), adjacent to their parents' room on the second floor. That left a 3rd bedroom for us, the grandparents. The ground floor bathroom also contains a shower, making 4 in all. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment/ utensils and the rental included all linens, towels and even lovely big beach towels. The beds were so comfy and with ceiling and floor fans in every room, plus ocean breezes, we did not use the AC. There were lots of great outdoor spaces, including bedroom balconies, patios with tables and chairs, loungers etc. on both east and west sides of the ground level. Plus, there was a large covered patio space on the 4th floor with deck chairs, giving a great view of the beach and ocean as well as an overlook of the town and the jungle beyond. Hammocks were available at several places. Housekeeping service mid-week was welcome, at which time all towels and linens were replaced with fresh and the house thoroughly cleaned. You will not find a cleaner place! The decor was tastefully done with rustic Mexican furniture and the library of movies was extensive. The newly installed small swimming pool was enjoyed by all, as was the wonderful beach and ocean. The bikes got lots of use. There is a convenient bike rental facility down the street, should you need for smaller kids.. Beware, bike helmets are not available, but the pace of traffic moves fairly slowly and drivers seemed quite respectful of both pedestrians and cyclists. The beach and water were lovely. Good to learn that the reef is healthy! The location was perfect - a short walk either via the beach or on the street, but not too close to the downtown square. We loved trying many wonderful restaurants, listening to street musicians, frequenting the Alma Libre Bookstore, buying produce at the Wed. market beside the church, buying fruit from the fruit truck which made regular rounds, appreciating and buying the work of talented local artisans, attending the Christmas Eve Mass, hearing Christmas Eve Carollers (to benefit the stray animals of PM), snorkelling at the offshore reef, fresh local seafood, good coffee, ice cream, gelato, smoothies and fruit beverages. Not having a car was not a problem, as Jim recommended a reliable company for airport transfers and transport to tourist destinations out of town could be arranged through a kiosk at the Square (fixed prices, so no haggling required). Taxis to the Chedraui supermarket at the highway were very reasonable - even thrilling depending on the driver! Suggest you plan a visit to Puerto Morelos, before development changes it. We were warned that this IS coming. We felt we were in a safe Mexican tourist town with a charming authentic character. We elders have never stayed at an all-inclusive tropical resort, but cannot imagine a better fit with our values and preferences than our stay at Casa dos Delfines in Puerto Morelos.

“One of the most relaxing, spiritual uplifting, and family oriented vacation I have had in the last 20 years.”

This is the first time I have every written a review on anything. So here goes.... The beach house was clean and could pass the white glove test. The furniture and decor gives you a feeling of the glow of sunshine, openness, and calm about the place. Very spacious and roomy. The view from my balcony made you feel that you could almost reach out and touch the beach. The pool is very refreshing for those who don't like the beach. When I rode one of their bikes to down, I discovered I needed more practice. You can cook your own food or walk to a restaurant or bar. They have a "gringo" restaurant that plays live oldies but goodies music on the weekends. Even a "chili" contest for the locals get in on the act. On Halloween night we had about 150 trick-or- treaters. They were so cute. There are many English speaking vacationers. My sisters had a massage right on the beach. It was great! The owners thought of everything. If you want to stay in, they have a list of great movies you could play if you don't want to watch TV. In real estate, they say the key to success is "Location, location, location". Well this is the location to go for a safe, relaxing and fun filled vacation. You are walking distance to the beach, town square, many restaurants and stores, ATM , and church. There were no "Downsides" other than it didn't last long enough. By the way, the owner is well established within the community and is involved in many charitable causes in Porto Morales such as the local school, and Dog Rescue. I guess I've said enough. But I give it a ***7 STAR**** rating -- you will NOT be disappointed.. Thank you for reading this.
