Description

Tan y Gaer is a detached house set in its' own grounds. The holiday letting comprises the main house with the owner retaining the wing for her own use, so to that extent it's semi detached. The house has its own private garden with hot tub and BBQ area. Recently modernised, the property comprises a total of 4 bedrooms, one of which is a twin, the other are double bedded /family rooms. On the ground floor there is a large kitchen/breakfast room leading out across the patio into the private garden area. There's also a washing machine area, double bedroom, bathroom with walk in shower and a lounge with Sky TV including Sky Sports.

Upstairs there's a master bedroom with dressing room and ensuite with a roll top bath, a further double bedded/family room, a family bathroom with electric shower and a twin bedded room. Cots can be provided.

There is ample parking outside the house which is off the road. The property has full central heating throughout and wifi. We are a 5 star caterer for wedding and special occasion events. We can alsp provide Outdoor Cinema supper evenings. Tan y Gaer means "At the foot of the fort". Opposite the house is Gaer Fawr, an Iron Age Hillfort dating back to 400BC. Public Footpaths start at the end of our drive so there's immediate access to all the outstanding wildlife, flora and fauna that this part of the world has to offer. If you are feeling a bit more energetic there are plenty of opportunities for leisurely cycling.Guilsfield is a small village about 3 miles from Welshpool. The village has two supermarkets, PO,a GP surgery, Church and two pubs each with a restaurant. It takes about 5 -10 minutes to walk to the village.

Welshpool is a small market town with independent shops, supermarkets,pubs and places to eat or buy take away food. It also has a modern leisure centre with swimming and facilities for children. In well under an hour you can explore places like Shrewsbury, Ludlow or Chester. The amazingly beautiful Cambrian Coast is under an hour and a half away with places like Ynys Las nature reserve, Aberdovey and Barmouth all offering different types of seaside experience.

Getting around

In a rural area the bus services are I frequent but they are generally reliable. Buses to Welshpool and Oswestry stop by request at the entrance to the estate about 100 yards from the cottage. A taxi to Welshpool train station is about 7 minute drive and costs about £5. There is a train service which takes you the length of the beautiful Cambrian coast or you can venture inland connecting to the Heart of Wales line.

Interaction with guest

Nearly all our reviews refer to the support we give our guests both at the time of booking and once they arrive. We live on the Gaer Hall estate which means we are near enough to be useful and far enough away to give you privacy.

“A wedding bolthole”

Plenty of room for my 5 members of family, well equiped and clean cottage. My son spent a lot of time in hot tub. Loved patting 3 horses that came to gate by house. Margaret was v helpful.
