Description from owner

NO BOOKING FEES! We pay for our listing which is the option that avoids those charges for you.:) This 'Lovely Place' is located on Lovell Avenue, Tybee Island, Georgia. It is just a short two-block walk to the beach and pier and shops and restaurants! Being able to walk to all of this is a huge treat; Tybee parking fees in the "main" area (IF you can find a spot) are hugely expensive and collected 8AM to 8PM 365 days a year.

This cottage home has been completely remodeled to expose the hidden beauty of its original bead-board walls. The living space inside the house has been rearranged to create a spacious kitchen and dining area with a high ceiling. All appliances are new, and a convenient laundry area is enclosed in a kitchen closet.

The master bedroom has a queen-size bed, and a private bathroom with shower. The second bedroom is furnished with a charming trundle-style bed, which sleeps two people. Both bedrooms have plenty of windows to let in the sounds of the island. No smoking except outside please. Pets permitted with approval.

The living room adjacent to the kitchen contains a queen-size sleep-number sleeper sofa as well as a love-seat for plenty of seating to watch your favorite shows on the 32' flat-screen TV and DVD/VCR player. The master bedroom and kitchen are also equipped with TVs. The house is equipped with a DSL modem/wireless router for internet access and a phone with free long-distance calling.

Just outside the living room lies a roomy deck with a gas grill. For those who like to rinse off after a long day at the beach, there is a charming outside shower with hot and cold water. If you prefer to bathe instead, the second bathroom contains a bathtub.

Sat to Sat. weeks only in June and July! (Neighborhood association does allow five nights; we'll try to accommodate you on that if we can around other visitors.) Four night minimum in August and until the Tues. after Labor Day. Three night minimum otherwise.

Upon reserving your stay, we will send you a registration to return to the owner which guarantees your stay by contract, and a welcome letter with directions to your property, how to let yourselves in, and more house information. We use a professional cleaning service, so our cottage will be nice and clean for you when you arrive. You will find the beds freshly made, plenty of linens, soap, and paper products. In addition to the amenities listed below, we also have beach towels, beach chairs, and movies available for you.

Tybee Island is blessed with a wide three-mile long, soft, sandy beach, which is perfect for sunbathing, or leisurely walks. You can collect many different kinds of shells, or partake in a wide variety of water-related activities. It has a terrific pier and pavilion at the south-end of the island that overlook the Atlantic Ocean. The south area has many restaurants, shops and bars.

Tybee offers recreational activities for all tastes. Charter fishing, dolphin tours, or boat rentals are available for water lovers. For history buffs, Tybee has a beautiful old lighthouse and Fort Screven, which are at the mouth of the Savannah River. Fort Pulaski, used during the Civil War, is just a few miles further up river. Savannah, which is famous for its historic sites and ghosts, is only 15 miles away. For the sports enthusiast, many golf courses are nearby and the minor-league baseball Sand Gnats play throughout the season at historic Grayson Stadium in Savannah.

Come experience Tybee Island for yourself. Enjoy it from the comfort and convenience of this cottage, and see why we call it 'A Lovely Place.'

Response from the owner Linda, we so very much appreciate your lovely comments about "A Lovelly Place" cottage.:) You were wonderful guests, and we're delighted that you found the house to be a comfy and well supplied home away from home!:) We agree; the location cannot be better in that you can easily walk to the main beach and pier and shops and restaurants, but you are still away from the maddening crowds and noise just enough to have peace and a neighborhood feel. We look forward to your next visit. Happy summer!

Response from the owner These visitors arrived well before the check in time, so the cleaning crew was not finished preparing for them. The were allowed to come on in though to get out of the heat certainly! The floor was mopped as they were there and everything else finished. The owner of our cleaning company showed them around, let them unpack, etc. They indicated being happy with everything before she left. We have that on a written report. We received NO complaint at all during the stay. The mention of the contract is because we reminded her later that it says to PLEASE contact any of the THREE contact people she had for any problem during the stay! We simply cannot help with anything a couple of days after a guest returns home! But, it was after the return home that we received many emails with complaints. Two indicated that the cleaning co. was later than check in time finishing. They HAD to be. They had let the guests in early and spent a lot of time with them. We were told the roof was leaking; that was inspected and it is NOT. We don't know what a "strange" bed situation means. It is exactly as shown on the listing. We've never had a complaint about the beds or baths. The rugs are washed and replaced frequently; we never promise "new" ones for each visitor though. The master bath shower is as shown on the listing and might be a bit small for a huge visitor, although several "not small" men in the owner family have no difficulty using it at all. This is a comfy, well furnished and extremely well located family home. If the visitor wanted a "luxury" rental, we have a couple of those at about $350 a night and up that we could have offered! That was not requested. After receiving so many negative emails after this lady returned home, we quickly checked the guests (family named Arlt) who arrived later the day she left to make SURE they were happy! Their only very politely expressed problem was a bit of a difficult time making the lock work on the door to the outside. We immediately had the entire lock totally replaced to make sure any problem was eliminated! They had no problem with floors, beds, baths, etc. and said they will return for another visit. The house has had hundreds of very happy guests over the years and we look forward to many more. We will always respond if needed.

Response from the owner Kenneth, this is a very delayed reply and we are so sorry. For some reason we received no notice of it when you wrote the review. Probably a software glitch at Trip Advisor. It's so important that our guests be pleased and we are thrilled that you so enjoyed your visit to "A Lovelly Place" cottage! We try hard to provide a cozy home away from home and, like you, we LOVE the location! It's so convenient to South Beach and so many shops and restaurants! You have a neighborhood environment and feel coupled with that ease of getting around. Thank you again and we look forward to any and all future visits you make to the cottage!
