“Honua Kai is a fantastic location with superb accommodations”
I think the advertisement is extremely humble allowing for expectations to be easily exceeded. My family of four (my wife, two teens ages 19 & 15, and myself) thoroughly enjoyed the room for seven days. Although only a one bedroom/one bath unit, there was more than enough space and at no point did we ever feel crammed or wished we had booked a larger unit. Even when the Nana doors are closed (which was a rare occasion for us), the space feels large and accommodating. There’s more than enough room in the kitchen space for two people. The breakfast bar sits three nicely (the chef and/or sous chef run the kitchen anyway!) The stocked utensils and kitchenware is nicely equipped. The stainless Bosch appliances are both appealing in look and exceptional in design (i.e. the cooktop heats quickly making for efficient breakfasts leading to more time spent outside). We took advantage of this by preparing our breakfasts and a few light lunches indoors. There was more than enough paper towels, dishwashing detergent, and hand dish soap provided upon arrival. The coffee maker (grab some fresh beans from the Coffee Shop in Napili) has both a reusable filter as well as paper filters. The refrigerator is full sized and has more than enough space for your fresh food needs. There is a local market right across from the Honua Kai, easily accessible by foot if desired. The bedroom and bathroom are extremely comfortable. There is storage in the side tables, under the TV console, as well as a closet. A safe is also stored in the bedroom closet if you feel the need. The bath is also well equipped with a separate shower, bath, and dual vanity. Lighting is exceptional overhead, and a separate makeup mirror was provided. The lanai is also accessible from the bedroom, so you can enjoy a fresh cup of coffee outside while the teens are still sawing logs in the main living area. Note that a front load washer and dryer in the unit. Even though we traveled via carry ons, we still over-packed. Take advantage of the washer/dryer and pack light. Enough liquid detergent was provided to return home with all clean clothes Outside the unit, the Honua Kai grounds are brilliant! The onsite gym has elipticesers, treadmills, life fitness machines, and two sets of dumbells (one set of stainless and one rubber coated). There are two main pool areas: one side was more child oriented (i.e. a slide, wading area, and large open pool) while the other side was more catered to the adult/quiet crowd. The vegetation around the pools allow for privacy and nice separation. A lazy river also surrounds the perfect location for a daily canopy reservation (it was labeled as spot “D” during our trip…immediately adjacent to the lazy river as well as one of the wonderfully heated spas). Also note, Duke’s Restaurant provides bar service in the pool area, so if you are in the mood for a Mai Tai, Lava Flow, or a Smoked Porter, there’s no need to leave the pool and wait at the bar. The server also sends your order wirelessly, so the wait time is literally minutes. Duke’s being onsite is another added benefit. Time it right and you can enjoy Happy Hour pricing from 3 to 5 pm. Accessing the beach is just a few steps away from Dukes. The Trade Winds were active during our stay, which created some abnormal wave heights on the beach and allowed for wicked body surfing/boogie boarding. Pack a few pool tubes in your luggage and use them at the beach! If you don’t want to have the Honua Kai set up seats/umbrellas for you, there are amenities in the unit: beach chairs and umbrellas are more than well equipped for shade on the beach. We’ll definitely be back again. Thanks InvitedHome (Jason and staff)!

“Great condo in a nice resort and good beach location!”
Konea 616 was a great condo that made our 10 day stay in Maui even more pleasant. Pros: NIce space for family, very clean resort, nice beach just a short walk from condo. Closet with beach gear and cooler was awesome. Large clean lanai and living room doors that completely opened was a major added bonus when having coffee in the morning or dinner at night. Easy parking underground. Location of condo was convenient for elevator use. King bed was comfy. Quiet neighbors with little road noise. Nice grocery store within walking distance. Jason - our greeter - was really friendly and took care of any questions or issues we had. Cons: Small washer and dryer Needed more bath towels Smell from waste treatment plant across the road was sometimes unpleasant - but not very often. Sleeper bed in couch very uncomfortable, would not be good for an adult. Pool was extremely crowded and the one time we used it, it was hard to find loungers. Pro and con - This is a fairly new resort and you can tell that a lot of thought was taken with regard to guest comfort. High end appliance and finishes, etc. However, you can tell that this condo has seen a lot of use and it might be time to touch up the paint and clean the sofa in the living room area.

“Great condo for our first trip.”
This was our first trip to Maui. In shopping around for a place to stay, this turned out to be the best one for our first visit. After spending a few days at the resort we realized how much we enjoyed the open mountain view from the Lani. Morning sunrise with a coffee on the Lani or evening sunsets with dinner was spectacular. This modern condo has high end appliances, an excellent 5 piece master bath, 'toy closet' with everything you need for a beach trip. A perfect layout for and couple on vacation. The resort has a great restaurant in Dukes and a endless beach to play on. Shopping, restaurants and fun places to see are close by. After exploring the rest of the island we new we had picked one of the best places to stay for our first trip. We would look at this resort again when we decide to do another trip to Maui.
