“Ensenada beach and villa”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2017

Enjoyed staying at James house. It was nice and clean and the manager was super friendly. The beach was very close by and the house felt safe and welcoming. Will definitely return.

“Our dream home in Ensenada”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2014

We have been coming to Ensenada for several years and dream of retiring here. James has built what we imagine our dream home here would be. The location is perfect. Close to the heart of the city and yet very near to Pacific Ocean. Shopping is just a few blocks away. The beach is the same distance in the opposite direction. We woke and had our coffee outside near the garden many mornings. Ate Pomegranate from the tree just in front of our door. Watch the humming birds dart back and forth while a squirrel sat on the wall surveying the area. If you like to cook your own meals and relax or eat out, it is great. If you like biking, it is great. If you like to walk on the beach, it is great. The owner is a very gracious host. Roberto, the property manager, could not be more helpful. If you love mexico the way we do you could not find a better place to stay. Our daughter visited us while we were here and now plans to return with friends.

Response from the owner Andrew's comments made us feel that we are accomplishing our goal of providing a relaxed and pleasant environment in an attractive location. We are grateful for the comments and look forward to serving others. James and Robert.

“Private and Very Close to Everything!!!”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2014

A small group of us went to Ensenada, BC for 4 days and decided to stay at this house. We loved the privacy and secured entrance. There is a large Caliente Casino about one block away for any gamblers like us. Center of City is 5-7 minutes away, Bufadora is about 15-20 minutes. Large supermarkets two blocks away. Unit is very spacious and has a lot of sitting area. Only two things keeping this rental from a five star rating. First, only one TV in one of the bedrooms, but not a big problem since we were not home much. Second, beds and mattresses need to be upgraded, still good enough for a short stay. Garden and amenities looked amazing. Anyone with kids will have a great time here.

“Very deceiving!!”

Reviewed 19 Mar 2014

The caretakers house was so filthy, and you had to look at it every time you went outside. The condition of the place, very poor. And not close to the beach.

Response from the owner This one and only negative review we have received is untimely (seven months after his stay), unfair in that the property is listed on our Flipkey page as 300 meters from the beach so there was nothing “deceptive” about how “close” it is to the beach. Our detailed description begins as follows: Fully furnished and well equipped 3 bedroom - 1.5 bath home 300 meters from sandy beach, dunes and sea laguna ecological reserve on the Pacific Ocean - great for walking or jogging.” As for the writer’s general broadside that the property was in “poor” condition he makes no comment about the property actually rented but complains about the appearance of the caretaker’s house. At that time we were installing a hydroponic system and some building materials were visible near the caretaker’s house. We have long since removed the hydroponic system. Our vegetable gardens are flourishing. I take our guests’ comments very seriously and I will address any complaint within my power to address.

“The Perfect Relaxation Retreat”

Reviewed 9 Apr 2013

The Ensenada Beach and Garden Villa is the perfect retreat for anyone in the San Diego area. Ensenada is a peaceful beach town with great surf, restaurants, and hiking/biking trails. The house is conveniently located within walking distance to the beach and driving and biking distance to the fabulous vineyards. I highly recommend staying at the Villa if you just want to escape the craziness of working life. I especially recommend the Villa for young travelers who do not want to overpay for amenities that they will not use and would rather spend their time discovering Mexico and enjoying the outdoors.

“An enjoyable, tranquil, and colorful visit to a nearby yet truly”

Reviewed 26 Feb 2013

Ensenda is easily accessible by bus, if you're not driving, the bus station being a very short walk from the pedestrian border crossing at Tijuana. Bus trip is comfortable and takes little more than 1.5 hours from TJ, and sitting on the right hand side of the bus affords continuous views of the water. During my five or so visits in Senor Smith's villa I've greatly enjoyed a variety of restaurants with delicious food at reasonable prices. The waterfront area (malecon) is my own favorite part of town, very scenic and with interesting port activity. The fish market and a number of small restaurants serving dishes such as cerviche and fish tacos are also attractive. Friendly service in restaurants and stores, with English spoken in most places. And a few worthwhile attractions, for those with a car, within an hour's drive. My own favorite is the beautiful and rugged wine country, and the small wineries located there, which came as a distinct surprise to me. The villa is spacious, comfortable, nicely furnished, and quiet. With the Wifi and us phone service available, as well as TV, you're well connected to the outer world and USa. The beach access is a big plus, since it's so close, usually uncrowded, and extends so far in both directions. The owner is a friendly and interesting person, very knowledgeable about Mexico and Ensenada, and it's a big plus to have him nearby and accessible. And his caretaker couple is also friendly and helpful. All in all, an excellent place to enjoy a foreign adventure in close proximity to the us.
