Description
Cedar Cottage is ideally situated for visiting Alton Towers and the Peak District. Alton Towers is only 6 miles away and the Peak District National Park is less than a mile away. The cottage is part of an award winning conversion of farm buildings which are over 400 years old. It lies in a picturesque courtyard approached down our private drive. The courtyard is a sun trap and we also have a lawn area where guests can relax or play games. Cedar now has it's own private hot tub which can be hired at a cost of £70 for 2 nights up to £120 for a week.
We are also popular with walkers and cyclists. Dovedale is close by and the Manifold Trail (Britain's first cycle trail) just down the road. We have a lockable bike shed for safe storage. Cedar Cottage is tastefully furnished and fully equipped with all mod cons. We are dog owners ourselves and welcome well behaved dogs at a nominal charge of £20 per dog. There are lots of walks from the doorstep and we have a field set aside for dog exercise. We also have stabling and grazing for guests horses and fantastic riding country with the Manifold Trail, Weaver Hills and Peak District all within riding distance with limited roadwork along very quiet lanes.
For evenings out, there are several local pubs serving delicious food and an excellent Indian restaurant. The picturesque market towns of Ashbourne and Leek have many bars and restaurants if you want to travel a little further. We can provide a baby or dog sitting service for that well earned break.Cedar Cottage is rated *** with Visitengland.

“Just like in the pictures”
Had a lovely time and the family was friendly. We all got to play with or pet their horses, pigs, and guinea pigs, not to mention the dogs! The location was also ideal, being closer than others to Tho… More

“Lovely”
A wonderful non working farm setting, lovely owner's, the accommodation has everything you require including a hit tub altho alittle expensive as an extra add on. My only criticism is the cleaner you pay lots of money too needs a refresher course on her attention to detail, I have my own cleaning business and it isnt up to the standard you deserve it to be.

“Nice accommodation, nice location, awful internet.”
We booked this place because it was listed as having free wifi. I had to work whilst we were away and have two teenage children who will expire if not connected to their social media. On arrival we were shown round, the accomodation was nice, homely and in nice surroundings. I checked the internet as soon as we arrived but got nothing. I raised it with the owner who has obviously had this conversation lots of times.. I accept that this farm is a long way from a town, and internet may well be a bit hit and miss but you need to be honest about that when advertising your property. If you are visiting the region and dont need internet then this is a good spot but if like me you need to work or need internet for your kids you need to know that for us we often had no internet at all for hours and when it was there it took ages just to load a page. Once you known that you can make your own choice. If the net is not important to you its a lovely place.
