Art Cabin in the Woods

Stay at the Sculpture Park and Studio property of the Artist Tom Holmes and his wife Carol. The main cabin is 12 sided, one room, 14 feet across, about 160 sq. ft. There is a high quality, top of the line, new foam gel bed, "Queen".... 60"x80", small dresser and small table. Cathedral ceiling with fan. Two soft chairs. A stone and steel custom fireplace for heat and ambiance. An electric heater keeps a base temperature. The space is private and secluded from the main house, just up a small hill.

A private bathroom and shower are located just next to the cabin, attached by a walkway. The bath is 10 feet from the cabin. It is tiled with radiant heat in the floor; trimmed in cedar. Super warm in the colder weather.

Guests have access to a hot tub, sauna, outdoor shower seasonally, kitchen in the main house, outdoor kitchen with gas grill and gas burners, outdoor cooking area on the decks.

The sauna attached to the cabin by a board walk. Wood fired. Made from cedar, marble and glass block. The hot tub is always ready to go.

Organic eggs, coffee, teas are available free for guests.

The property is lit at night. The decks overlooking the ponds and waterfalls are available to relax and cook on. All wood is provided with cast iron cookware and most kitchen utensils you will need. A larger fire pit is available for night fires.

Fifty attached acres of woods can be explored. Sculpture is everywhere. There is art and life to be discovered. The aviary holds 50 pigeons that float over the property during the day. Lakes, streams and rivers abound in the local area. Let Tom and Carol be your guides to the Northeast Poconos and surrounding areas.

Visit Tom's site tomholmes..... to get a feel for his sculpture. Check in is 2pm... Check out is 11:30am...... We are located in Greeley PA 18425. We are 2 hours from NYC. More depending on traffic.... 85 miles from the tunnels into NJ, about 100 miles up Rt 87 to Rt 84.

Some attractions are Settler's Inn Restaurant and Ledges Restaurant overlooking the water falls. Historic Milford. Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, Storm King, DIA of Beacon NY... one hour away.

Area farmers markets, farm to table experiences, Harmony Presents concerts, Antiques, pristine lakes to canoe or kayak, like Shohola Falls.

The Delaware River is 10 minutes from the house and offers tubing, fishing and trails. Tell us your interests and we will prepare an information package tailored to your needs. Terms to search: Pike County PA, Delaware Parks, Sullivan County NY, Beacon NY, Woodstock NY, New Paltz, NY, Milford PA.

Smoking allowed, just not in the cabin..... covered areas abound. Lounge chairs, large fire pit, forest trails and a sky lantern tutorial if you like. When the moon is down and the atmosphere is clear, the stars are amazing. The stars drip from the night sky with no ambient light.

Interaction with Guests: We give you as much privacy as you like. Come and go as you please. Ask questions or hole up reading in the cabin. Cook in or go out to a restaurant. Mix it up and have fun.

The Neighborhood: We are very rural here. Lots of woods, streams, ponds, rivers and waterfalls; not too many neighbors. Hawley north of us and Milford south are about 10 miles each direction. At night the silence buzzes.

Getting around : There is limited public transit here being a rural environment. A bus stops in Milford and in Hawley PA. A train comes from NY to Port Jervis. Check the Port Authority schedule if needed. Taxi service is hit or miss, believe it or not. A car is recommended, but we will pick you up if needed.

Other Things to Note: use google only to map GPS to the house... I will send a pin after you book. Apple and GPS sometimes auto corrects to the wrong address.

Very Good

“Private and peaceful”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2018

Tom, Carol and Chole were great hosts very helpful and friendly. The cabin and bathroom were nice and clean. I really like how much privacy I had and being able to blast my music while I utilized the outdoor kitchen. I would definitely come back again. Thank you Carol for suggesting the trigger point massage, it was awesome.

“Perfect place to de-stress and relax”

This cabin was absolutely delightful. Tom and Carol are so kind and welcoming, and the place was spotless when we arrived. The cabin is cozy and offers just the right amount of privacy - it is situated facing away from the main house and feels secluded, but it's close enough that the chickens, ducks and the resident lab, Chloe, stop by to visit a few times a day. We spent most of our stay reading in the outside living room and cooking. The kitchen is well-equipped enough to allow us to cook several involved meals from Ottolenghi's cookbook. I hope to return, we had a lovely time!

Tom and Carol are wonderful, kind people. They have 2 chickens who I became friends with. Every morning the came right up to me on the outdoor kitchen area. Chloe their dog is also friendly. 2 ducks are funny to watch. This place is a great getaway from it all. No tv ,internet, or wifi. This was our second time there and cant wait to go back

“Easy relaxation in a beautiful setting.”

We enjoyed our stay at the Art Cabin immensely. We were greeted by Tom and Carol, who showed us the incredible property and all of our cabins. We had everything we needed, and not anything excess, which is what we had hoped for in this woodsy hideaway. It was wonderful to lie in the cabin looking out into the woods, to cook in the kitchen gazing into the trees, to warm up in the sauna watching the wood fire. The sound of birds and stone fountains was all we needed for entertainment. Nearby attractions did not disappoint, from dinner at Ledges to a long hike up to the waterfalls nearby. We will return, and have recommended it to many couples we think would also benefit from this retreat.

Tom and Carol are wonderful and so is their property! It was such a wonderful place to take a break from life. The property is gorgeous and Tom's sculptor's are a great compliment to it. The cabin is perfect size for 2 people. The bathroom is cozy with the heated floors and is very modern. The outdoor kitchen is fully equipped for all your cooking needs and was stocked with all the essentials. Sadly, we did not get a chance to go into the sauna but the hot tub was excellent! There are multiple fire pits and the pond is a lovely spot to relax. Tom is very knowledgeable of the area. He gave us a map and helped us figure out where the go for trails and waterfalls. I can say enough good things about our experience here and would love to return in the future!

“Beautiful property surrounded by nature and art!”

We chose Art Cabin in the Woods for our honeymoon, and it was everything we hoped it would be! Tom and Carol are very gracious hosts, and made us feel completely welcome in this amazing (and amazingly comfortable) cabin. They also made sure we knew all the best places to visit around the area, and their recommendations were spot on! The property is full of amazing design ideas and art installations... Tom never seems to run out of energy or creativity, which is one reason we chose this rental over all of the others; it is totally unique! All modern amenities, rustic outdoors charm and easy access to all the local attractions make it the perfect place for a getaway. We had a fantastic time, and highly recommend the Art Cabin for anyone who wants to have an adventure, but do it with comfort and style!

“Absolutely Beautiful!”

Reviewed 5 Jun 2015

We arrived at the property not sure exactly what to expect, but were so pleasantly surprised. The owners were warm and welcoming to us and our big dog, who was beyond excited to chase the birds! The grounds are beautiful and the sculptures throughout the woods and around the property are nice to encounter as you explore. The owner and his wife were very kind and accomadating during our stay, quick to change or hand us anything we needed. We had very rainy (thunderstorms) weather for our entire stay, which was dissapointing, but the beauty of the cabin and the charm of the property kept our spirits up. The outdoor kitchen was great and we cooked all of our meals there for the three days we stayed. Their dog, Chloe, was also super sweet and a great addition to our experience!
