“Great time/location”

Reviewed 16 Jun 2013

This is a great property for a large group. Everyone had a great time - a couple of things that would improve the place would be curtains or blinds as there is no way to block the outside sunshine and property lights at night making it difficult to sleep at times - also the bathroom lights shine through windows into the bedrooms so again if someone uses the bathroom at night it lights up the bedrooms. Curtains would also help block some street noise - otherwise we enjoyed and it was fun to see the sea turtles right out front and not be in the crowded tourist zone! Mahalo to Hale Kai for a great time.

“A Great Vacation Stay”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2013

We really enjoyed our condo. We were a family of 6 including 2 children. The 3-bedrooms, two downstairs and a loft bedroom overlooking the living room were plenty of room. The living room and loft had ocean and pool views and windows were able to be opened to give a great ocean breeze right through the condo. The units are older but are being kept in good shape. We did get some noise from traffic on the backside but it did not bother us. The bathrooms and kitchen were in good shape except the electric stove could do with an upgrade. Management were really helpful and friendly. A huge turtle came up on a rock near the beach every night much to the delight of the children. We loved the "Bad *** Coffee shop across the street and the farmers market. All in all highly recommended and we know we would rather stay here than a big modern hotel.

“Three Weeks of Peace”

This was our 2nd vacation in unit 220 . We have found it to be a perfect location for our family of 5 adults. Most of our time was spent in the ocean or by the pool but it was great to bring our barbecued dinner out onto the lanai at sunset.

“family trip”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2013

We were overjoyed with our stay at Hale Kai. The location was better than expected. The pool and beach were in front of our lani. We watched whales from our first breakfast. Sea turtles swam in the reef too. There was enough room for 5 adults. We grilled dinner along with several other families. We would definitely stay there again. Thank you Valerie for your help.

This was our second year in a row stay at the Hale Kai, this stay was just as fantastic as the last. Unit 220 could use a new king bed mattress as well as a new vacuum. Other then that a great unit with an awesome view!

Response from the manager Aloha Brandi & JeffI am so glad you have a fantastic time here. Hale Kai has a lot to offer. The owners did get a new king size bed! If has a new vacuum too. They also bought a new large flat screen TV.We will be doing some painting too in April. The views and being so close to the ocean it is hard to beat. Mahalo Valerie

“home away from home”

Reviewed 25 Dec 2012

As soon as we opened the door we felt home. At first I was a little worried since It was my first time not staying at a hotel; however it turned out to be the best place I had ever stayed for a family vacation. I have stayed at many high end hotels but this was the best experience ever. .. It felt homy and my teens loved it. I am planning to come back next Christmas and stay here again. We recommend this place to anyone how wants to be relaxed . Thank you for a wonderful stay :)

Response from the manager Aloha MilfredMahalo for the kind words. We are small, quiet and quaint. I do hope to see you back again.Mahalo Valerie

“Don't Be Fooled By Online Pictures”

Reviewed 17 Dec 2012

The unit we stayed in -220- a three bedroom is in dire need of repair and updating. This complex was built in the 60's and this unit has had nothing done to it. The online photos look great - we opened the front door to first see broken rattan furniture in the living room and then were greeted by ants all over the kitchen counter, everywhere in bathroom and in two of the three bedrooms - not just a few - they kept marching in. The property mgmt company did send someone in to spray but ants kept returning. Some of the units have been updated very nicely. The pool is awesome and kept very clean. Beach area great for swimming and snorkeling. The management were attentive and very accommodating. Bottom line this complex is very good, location is great but this unit really needs some TLC.

Response from the manager Aloha Ken & Jo-AnnSorry the unit did not live up to your expectation. It is a great unit with a view that is hard to beat and so close to the ocean. The owner has not been in a position to do anything to the unit forsome time. Her children have taken an interest and are fixing it up. They are buying a new king bed, large flat screen tv and having some painting done. We are going through everythingand freshing it up. Ants we have not had problem since you were here so I hope that we have detoured the ants. The unit was remodeled about 20 years ago so some TLC will take it a long way.Mahalo Valerie

“A perfect place to get away from it all & be close to it all too”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2012

The Hale Kai property was fabulous; quiet, beautiful, and steps from a basically private beach. Snorkel and swim with the Turtles while grilling dinner and lounging by the pool. Walk across the street for everything you want to complete a perfect vacation, or drive 10 minutes and be at the West Maui hot spots. Unit 220 needs updating, but the rest of the complex is in great shape. 220 is an excellent location, big corner unit with huge amounts of light and cross breezes. We'll be back again. Thanks Hale Kai.

Response from the manager Aloha Susan Mahalo forthe kind words. Our location is great close to just about everything. I am so glad you and your family enjoyed your stay. Looking forward to seeing you again. Mahalo Valerie
