Description
Alfama 5 is located at 9, Santa Cruz do Castelo Street, inside the first walls of Saint George castle, in the Alfama neighbourhood.
Walking is this centuries old neighbourhood is like diving into history: Lisbon as born here and grew along the centuries towards the river.
The area is mostly pedestrian, extremely picturesque, composed of cute narrow streets and tiny squares.
During the day the quarter is usually crowded, as are the small grocery stores, local restaurants and fado houses. In the evening the human tide that visits the Castle vanish into other parts of town and the quarter turns to be very quiet and calm.
Alfama 5 is on the first floor (no lift) of an old building recently fully refurbished.
Renovation was complete and carefully accomplished: pre-existing old materials like the wooden floor and ceilings were incorporated with the new. Apartment has now a modern and well equipped kitchen and a full bathroom, functional bedrooms with large closets and air conditioning (heat and cold) in the living room.
Decoration is sober in a cheerful family style that makes the flat very cozy.
The apartment can accommodate up to 4 people with full comfort. It is composed of a living room and dinning area, modern kitchen and two bedrooms with double beds. A full bathroom and a small storage room complete the apartment.
Alfama 5 has a small balcony and two large windows that let in lots of sunlight. Balcony faces the little square in front of the entrance to the Castle with really nice views and the Castle is literally at your feet.
Lastly, the unit is right next to our other apartments Alfama 2 and 3 aand they can be rented together for larger groups.

“Cold in February”
Our host was charming and location suited us well. However, we were cold because the heating only worked in the main room and there was insufficient bedding. The water was not hot.

“Great Location”
A very nice rental, great location( easy transportation, restaurants, and shopping) The check in was easy and helpful. Apartment was clean, neat, and spacious. I would highly recommend.

I read your review carefully (as I always do: guests are our best advisors when it comes to improving apartments; for instances in this apartment we have put a more modern TV and we are re-doing kitchen cabinets in November) but after 8 years renting apartments I came to the conclusion it is impossible to satisfy all guests when it comes to mattresses and pillows. For the same apartment different guests may say it is too hard or too soft as it depends on what they are used to at home Mario
