Description

This comfortable cottage on the Nash Point Lighthouse site features a sitting room, dining room, kitchen, double bedroom, twin bedroom, single bedroom and a shower room. It has gas central heating and an electric effect wood burning stove in the sitting room.

Ariel is one of two holiday cottages available at the lighthouse which is located on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast. There are wonderful safe beaches, many of which have been awarded the coveted blue flag. In particular, there is Ogmore-by-Sea (just over 4 miles away), Barry Island, Southerndown and Porthcawl, which are particularly good for windsurfing.

A short drive away (just over 8 miles) Cowbridge offers a good range of shops with small boutiques, craft and art galleries, excellent restaurants and pubs. Further along the coast is the famous Gower peninsula and walking on the Mumbles.

Also available to book at this location is Stella, sleeping five guests.

The lighthouse does not have a fog horn.

There is no WiFi available at Ariel and very limited mobile signal. A telephone with honesty box is provided.

Guests should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.

Guests are reminded they are renting a heritage building, therefore certain features such as steps, stairs and floor levels may not comply with that of a modern building. As such, we would advise guests to acquaint themselves with the premises on arrival and exercise caution accordingly.

Access roads to the lighthouse site are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.

The perimeter of the site is fully fenced and gated but once outside this area, it is very dangerous for children staying at the holiday cottage. Please ensure children are supervised at all times.

Sorry, no barbecues, fireworks, drones or remote controlled flying equipment permitted.

Please be advised, there is no facility for charging an electric car at this property and charging of an electric car is not permitted.

“Truly superb accommodation, location and setting”

Absolutely stunning cottage accommodation in simply perfect elemental setting. The cottage is very spacious and surprisingly cosy, considering the wind was howling around us - we were there for storm Brian and enjoyed every minute of it. I was definitely relieved and extremely pleasantly surprised at how it amply it accommodated our party. The location couldn't be better for that wild, getting away from it all feeling - the beach on the doorstep, the cliffs imposing nearby and wonderful coastal paths. My only criticism would be that the kitchen could be a bit better equipped. We found the kettle really only held enough for one cuppa - I think a normal family sized kettle would be an improvement. Also, a proper coffee pot - a cafeteire would have been appreciated - we had to buy one as we do like our daily fresh coffee fix. But other than that, it was perfect for young and old alike. I have already recommended to all who will listen. Other than the stormy weather, the world just fell away for those precious few days.
