Description
Grandma's Place is a fully restored traditional Bulgarian house for rental for summer and winter holidays.
In the heart of a small Bulgarian village in the middle of the Rhodopian mountains, it is a perfect place to have a relaxing trip away from everyday life. In the village of Kutela there is a small shop which sells all the essentials including the villages own Kutela Cheese. There is a bar where you can sit and enjoy the company of the locals. There are a range of walks from the house around the village and valley.
Only a 30 minute drive away is the ski resort of Pamporovo with the iconic Pamporovo tower, which, with recent development, is also becoming a lovely summer resort.
The historical city of Plovdiv is only 1 hour 30 minutes drive form the house where the nearest airport is. Ryan air fly there all year round for cheap prices if you get them as soon as they come out. Alternatively you can fly to Sofia on most airlines. However the transfer is 3 hours long.
Closer to the house is a snowboard park/mountain bike track and an off road track about a 15 minute drive from the house. (although many of the old roads are not tarmaced so are like driving off road, however there are plans to renew all the roads in the next few years).
The nearest town is Smolyan about 20 minutes away. Smolyan is rapidly developing to be a very modern town with all the shops you will need including, food shops, clothes shops and souvenir shops. There is an old two man chair lift which takes you to the top of the Pamporovo ski resort. At the base of the chair lift are the beautiful Smolyan lakes which are ideal for walks and picnics.
Devin, with its natural spring water swimming pools and eco walks through the valley is a 45 minute drive way and for the adventurous families, the Greek border is 1 and a half hours drive away up the winding mountain roads then another 1 hour to the nearest beaches on easier roads. (Remember your passport!)
We have a contact called Jordan that can give you car hire, taxis to and from the airport, tours and any help or information you may need, although he can help you on absolutely anything you may want to do like booking restaurants or days out and even come with you and drive you to the places you want to go (including Greece).
Here's the best part, for over 16s its only £10 per person per night up to a total of £350 for the week, meaning the bigger your party the cheaper it is!! Under 16s are £5 per person per night. (16 still counting as a child)
This house is perfect for families or groups of friends who love the out doors and want to immerse themselves in the Bulgarian culture.
To take advantage of all the area has to offer a car is recommended although not essential as Jordan can arrange anything for you.
