Description from owner

Description

If you are seeking a quiet and relaxing break, look no further than Tilling View in the ancient Cinque Port of Rye in East Sussex. Nesting in the heart of 1066 country, This house has been recently renovated to a very high standard and offers everything you need to make your holiday special. The property sits close to the small strand harbour in Rye overlooking the river Tillingham.

Tilling View is set just off of the main road with private parking and the town of Rye just a stone's throw away. The main citadel of this ancient cinque port may be accessed by crossing the road and walking a few meters to Mermaid Street.

Once inside the walls of the old town there are numerous restaurants, tea and coffee shops along with all of Rye's rich history, which can be discovered by walking the cobbled streets of this medieval town established since 1289.

Rye boasts one of the largest fishing fleet on the south coast and fresh fish can be bought from the shop right next to the boats beside the town salts, just around the corner,Rye also offers a small cinema and a sports leisure centre including a 25m swimming pool.

This idyllic property is set just off the main A259 on a private road and a short car ride will take you to any number of attractions nearby, from the stunning sandy beach at Camber to the town of Battle and the site of the famous Norman invasion of 1066.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review, I am so sorry that your stay was so very different from the majority of my previous guests, you were really unfortunate to have had such a negative experience, it must have been a extraordinary week and one which the majority of my former reviews do not reflect! Indeed, I am also at a loss to understand your stance on the description of the house and especially the adequacy of the interior. I wish that you had brought your concerns to my attention early in your stay when I visited you so that I may have addressed the issues you have raised here. Once again thank you for visiting Rye.

“A beautiful home from home - absolutely delightful”

Reviewed 14 Jul 2019

Wonderful holiday home superbly situated with all local amenities on your doorstep. Spent blissful days at Sissinghurst Castle, Great Dixter Garden and of course how could you resist the beach at Camber Sands. Rye is delightful with many bars, restaurants and many many antique shops to wander through. Lamb House is definitely worth a visit too and so close. Wonderful short break holiday.

Response from the owner Thank you very much for your kind review. I'm glad that you enjoyed exploring the surrounding area and it was lovely weather for Camber Sands.

“Great for exploring rye”

Reviewed 25 Jun 2019

Accomadation is nice clean and has everything you need and close to bars cafes etc. Only downside which wasn't mentioned anywhere when we booked . The road that we are on is also used by hgv's and vans because it leads up to a small industrial est. Not good having these going up and down from 3am in morning

Response from the owner I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay in Rye. I feel that you were very unfortunate with being disturbed by vehicle movements along the road in front of Tilling View. This is the first time that an incident like this has been raised as an issue, for which I can only apologise and hope that this doesn't stop you from visiting Rye in the future.
