Description

Our cosy little house is in a quiet corner of Susak's picturesque upper village. It's fully equipped, with linens, towels & WiFi included. Susak is unique among the Adriatic islands in terms of its sandy geography, and it is untouched by mass tourism. It's great both for a romantic getaway and for a family holiday.

Our house consists of the ground floor and the first floor, each 25m2. The entire upstairs is the bedroom, with 1 double bed and 2 single beds. The kitchen/dining area and a small bathroom are downstairs. The entire house has recently been refurbished. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher and a washing machine. There is also a hair-dryer and a hot water kettle. Wi-Fi usually works fine, but there were 2-3 occasions over the last few summers (after a storm for instance), that it was out of function on the whole island because they couldn't dispatch a repair crew for up to a week.

Susak, which lies in the northern Adriatic, has a reputation for being unconventional – it hasn't yet been fully touched by civilization. There is no traffic and no cars; the only vehicles on the island are several tractors used by locals in its leafy vineyards. There are no stores except for two grocery stores, and there are just a handful of restaurants. Susak has always attracted adventurers, romantics, artists and explorers - it is a haven for those looking to get away from busy urban life and well-trodden tourist paths. In fact, its dialect and customs are so different from any others in Croatia that the island is often the subject of anthropological and linguistic research.

In addition to two big sandy beaches popular with children, you are almost guaranteed to find a secluded beach all to yourself. The pathways of yellow sand leading to the beaches on the more quiet side of the island wind their way through romantic vineyards and fields of reeds, giving the island a true feel of unspoilt nature. They are also a wonderful setting for a walk to the lighthouse on the one end of the island, or the small chapel on the other.
