“Loved the place !”
Just right, close enough to the National park and downtown ,10 minute drive, secluded and on a dead end road. The cabin is furnished well about all you need. We loved the creek just wished it was summer.
Response from the owner Thank you so much for your stay and the great review! Come back soon, and thanks again!
We loved this house! The creek right behind the house is fantastic. Everything was perfect couldn't ask for a better stay the house is really nice and mother nature out there was even nicer. Very secluded and just what I wanted. I could sit on that back porch all day long and listen to the creek go by.
Response from the owner Thank you for your stay and great review. Hope to have you back soon.
“Perfectly placed between nature and downtown”
The swimming hole and creek were a hit. We grilled out and made s'mores in the fire pit. It was just a really great time. The only two drawbacks I saw were the bottom bunk bed is not the most comfortable and there wasn't enough sitting room in the living room for our group. BUT, that didn't stop us from having a fantastic time every single day of our seven-day stay. We also had a great time playing games at the high-top table in the dining room. A little bit about downtown. We wished that there was more info on Google or somewhere to tell us what exactly were the best things to do around town but we managed to explore on our own and find some fun and interesting stuff. I HIGHLY recommend the Beef Jerky Outlet... oh, my stars talk about heaven! The lemon pepper was to die for (I wish I had grabbed several more bags). The shop includes samples of every flavor so you can make sure it's tasty before you buy! Granny's Diner was pretty good but I do have to say not everyone was the friendliest that works there and the wait was super long for food. Do not go if you are starving because you'll be waiting a good 45 minutes for your food. But, I do highly recommend the fried squash... super yummy! Fat Bottomed Girls Cupcakes... meh, they were okay but the thing I really liked about the shop was the decor and items you could buy for your kitchen. They won't suit everyone though - kinda raunchy, but still hilarious. We bought the Duck Tour/Wax Museum combo tickets which included go karts, laser tag, and putt putt golf. The wax museum was super creepy and kind of a letdown but the duck tour was very informative and fun. We had Captain Jason and he was a riot. We played T-Rex golf which was kinda cool. It's the blacklight version so if you go make sure you wear light colors so you'll really light up. Although this was a nice way to spend a rainy day, I would more recommend Pirate's Cove golf. That was super fun and it was a breezy, sunny day so the temperature wasn't too bad. Now, what was REALLY fun from our combo ticket was the laser tag! I've never done it and it was an absolute riot!!! Would highly recommend the T-Rex laser tag for sure! We also found a cool ziplining/obstacle course type place called Family Fun Park. I liked this place because at the T-Rex place my daughter was not able to ride in a go kart by herself (have to be at least 16 according to the rules), but at the Family Fun Park she was able to ride by herself and the track was way cooler anyhow. We had dinner one night at The Purple Cow which was pretty neat. They had "adult" milkshakes along with the regular ones and we certainly enjoyed those. The food was nothing super special but it was a meal we didn't have to cook and those always taste better haha! The ambiance of the place was super cool though. Pour Some Sugar on Me - this is a little shop downtown and it is FILLED with tons of jelly beans and sweets. We had waffle cones there and they were perfect for a hot day. They also sell something called a cotton candy burrito which looked pretty awesome but we did not try it. My daughter wanted to "pan" for gems/gold so we went into the little shop that did that as well. I have to say this was kind of a letdown. It was $10 for a pail of dirt and the guy running the place basically did the sifting for her so not much of an experience was had. He was nice enough but for $10 I was hoping for more. We did the Old Time Photos downtown and it was hilarious and super fun! We highly recommend this. The ladies running this shop were very helpful and funny. We found everything to be priced within reason. All right, back to the creek... the water is super cold I'm not gonna lie. We bought floats from Walmart and sunned on one side and by the time that side was good and toasty the water actually felt good flipping over. A note to whoever visits the house in the future... if icky stuff starts to pile up in the swimming hole just walk down to where it flows into the lower creek and clear away any rocks, leaves, or sticks that might be blocking the flow and it will be crystal clear and clean again in no time! My daughter had fun catching fishies in the swimming hole too. We bought her a little net and she just used bread to catch them, look at them, then release them. She's not much of a relaxer (like us old folks go on vacation for) so it gave her something to do while we were chatting and sunning. We had a deer visit us a few times in the front yard. She was very pretty and majestic looking. And there was quite a character in one of the front trees with an orange bushy tail who seemed to hang around a lot too (squirrel). I actually met the owner of the place, and he and his family were super friendly. We were driving from Arizona and I prayed we could just sit in the driveway until our 4PM check-in time but he was very accommodating and friendly as we walked around checking out the creek. Look out for turtles and deer when you're coming down the long driveway!!! I think that's all I can remember from our fantastic time here. I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking to be placed far enough away to be able to enjoy nature but close enough to town for shopping and sightseeing!
Response from the owner Thank you so much for the wonderful review. It was a pleasure meeting you and your daughter. I'm glad your stay was a pleasant one after your long trip from Arizona. Have a safe trip home, and we hope to see you in the future.
“Roomy, secluded house less than ten minutes from downtown.”
Nice place with comfortable living area. It took me about eight minutes to be at bathhouse row and the convention center. I would definitely rent again when I need this much space. NOTE: if coming from the north, don't just blindly follow your gps navigation. Come all the way into town, then go north-ish to reach the destination.
Response from the owner Thank you for your stay and I know you had a hard time finding the place. At least next time you'll know exactly how to get there, lol thanks again.
