“Comfortable and elegant townhouse”

My husband and I spent 3 delightful weeks during the holiday season at this lovely renovated apartment in the heart of Chartres about two blocks from the main square. Our kind host, Anne, was very attentive to our needs, and responsive to all requests. We we arrived without a reservation because other accommodations had not worked out, and she made it possible for us to stay in the studio apt. next door for a few days until the 2-bedroom became available. Both apartments were spotless, with comfortable furniture and beds. The tiled shower was excellent, with plenty of hot water. We did not have a car, but did have a space reserved for occupants of the apt. in the courtyard . The apartment kitchen was small, but had what we needed to prepare meals. Trips to the green market on Saturdays were a treat, and we found several favorite restaurants. We often walked around the perimeter of the beautiful old town. It is hard to take a bad photo in that area. We walked to the station and hopped on trains to Rembouille to see the summer palace of several kings, and to Paris (about an hour's trip east from Chartres). There are many destinations to explore to the west as well, in Normandy and Loire Valley. We enjoyed being in such a central location. We will definitely stay
