“Our best experience in Bali”

Reviewed 21 May 2015

We loved staying at Villa Mimpi and we hope to go back -- next time for a longer stay. The staff member Putu was really great! He helped us a lot,m was ALWAYS available, and prices for transportation were very reasonable. We had made reservations at three villas for our three-week stay in Bali. We bailed out early on two of those three., Villa Mimpi was the one that really worked for us. The layout is great, the LR spills out toward the pool area, and the property is oriented east-west, so there is no hot west sun in the afternoons. Perfect! Thanks for a great stay!

Response from the manager We are so happy that we were able to provide your best experience in Bali and thank you for writing a review about it! We have taken over the management of our home and Putu has been promoted to Villa Manager and is doing an amazing job. If you wish to stay at Villa Mimpi again you can contact us through our flipkey listing or email Hope to be able to welcome you back in the future. Jan & Mike

“Two weeks in heaven”

Villa Mimpi , what a wonderful private piece of paradise. To come In and leave the world outside, allowing us to swim and relax as we wanted, the garden and fish pond was delightful. In the evenings it's beautiful to sit out on the rice viewing platform watching the antics of the ducks in the rice fields, the fireflies as darkness falls and enjoying a glass of wine. Good size, open living area with everything supplied, TV, Dvds and good wifi. Comfortable king-size beds and ensuites to match. Putu, the room boy, is a gem, cooks a great breakfast and is always willing to help with local information and run small errands. I would happily recommend Villa Mimpi to anyone looking for an oasis away from Ubud central.

“Special place overlooking the rice paddies.”

We recently stayed at Villa Mimpi for 3 nights and would return in a flash! Great setup with the 2 bedrooms and bathrooms inside and the living area outside ... and a perfect sized pool for dips. Lovely garden with friendly fish (who enjoy the left over toast from your brekky), welcome assistance from Putu, very comfy beds ... and the terrace overlooking the rice paddies is fantastic. As previously stated - no cars can get near the Villa and it is a short walk down local lane-ways to get there - but it wasn't a problem. (May not suit people with small kids or with mobility challenges though)You can walk into Ubud if you felt like it - but there are plenty of excellent restaurants, bars and shops around if you want to stay local. We would definitely stay there again - much better than an impersonal resort!

A friend and I stayed at beautiful Villa Mimpi for 8 days recently and didn't want to leave. The house itself was wonderful - we loved the fact that a lot of it was semi openair. The pool, garden and bale were magic. We will return!!!

“Relaxing retreat”

Reviewed 13 Feb 2014

We stayed at Villa Mimpi for 5 days after a 5 week trip through Europe. We really needed a rest before heading back to our normal lives in australia and Villa Mimpi gave us that. It is as the pictures show - beautifully decorated, the living areas open to the garden and well maintained. There is a small library there with a range of genres which kept those of us who wanted to read by the pool very happy. We enjoyed eating at Dreams cafe just up the lane and only ventured to Ubud to withdraw money. Another cafe we liked was the French bakery just along the main road to Ubud. It was lovely to have breakfast prepared for us each morning and the house cleaned and tidied. The gardens are full of vibrant colours. There are lots of geckos which we discovered have a very loud call for such small creatures. We used the recommended drivers to take us to and from the airport and were happy with the service. Overall we were happy with this accommodation and would recommend it.

“A cultural experience of Bali and Ubud”

Reviewed 12 Nov 2013

Villa Mimpi was ideal for us. Nicely tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. The villa has all the mod cons you need with living space open to the pool and the beautifully landscaped gardens. The corner patio had a panoramic view over the rice paddies and pathways. That's where we enjoyed our breakfast every morning. The villa is located on a pathway connected to the main street. Although there is a variety of restaurants in the main street, 2 restaurants and 2 shops are also located on the pathway. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Villa Mimpi. We walked and walked the pathways connecting up to the Penestanan Village. Ubud is also great for cycling. Every morning at 6 am we cycled at least 2 hours before breakfast. There are so many ways to spend your days and nights in Ubud. Having relaxing massages is one way and we can recommend Massage/Spa Eve, (just on the main street opposite the pathway) where we spent several hours (good value). We also recommend the antonio Blanco Museum (in walking distance) with its beautiful elevated restaurant. We spent our last night at the museum restaurant ("Rondji")- supurb meals and traditional Balinese Dancing! We will definitely come back to Villa Mimpi - to explore and enjoy the cultural heart of Bali!

“Beautiful place - perfect for traveling friends, a couple or fam”

Reviewed 21 Oct 2013

Steve was very helpful and accommodating. The place itself is beautiful. Loved every detail. I do recommend this place if you have a companion. I stayed as a solo traveler so it honestly was not the best place for me since I didn't feel comfortable walking the little road by myself at night... however, I kept on thinking that when I go back to Bali, I can't wait to bring someone with me back to the place. It definitely is worth it. :)

“We'll be back!”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2013

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 8 night stay at Villa Mimpi. It's the perfect place for a peaceful, romantic getaway. There is really not much to say that hasn't been said before by others. The villa has everything you need for a comfortable stay and is in a fantastic location, with plenty of choices for places to eat and Eve's Spa is just down the path when you feel like a little pampering. Ubud's centre is about a 15-20 minute walk or only a few dollars in a taxi if you are feeling the heat. The garden is beautiful and well maintained with many varieties of flowering orchids and other tropicals such as frangipani and gingers. A great way to start the day was to climb out of bed, take three steps and dive into the pool. We'd then watch life go by from the terrace before Putu would arrive to cook us a delicious breakfast. We really enjoyed our morning conversations with Putu and he was always checking to see if he could do anything else for us to make our stay more comfortable. Jan and Mike, the owners, have also thoughtfully left the contact details for a local lady, Made. If you feel like a night in, Made will cook you a delicious meal of Nasi Campur and deliver it and plate it up for you at the villa. The food was great and very good value for money. We enjoyed it so much that we got Made to make us Babi Guling on another occasion. Villa Mimpi is our idea of what a relaxing holiday should be. We are already planning to return next year. Can't wait!

“Dream Villa”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2013

Our recent 10 night stay at Villa Mimpi was very relaxing and we agree with the locals who regard this villa as the dream villa, amongst the many others in the vicinity. It is very private and is on a particularly strategic corner with a terrace that overlooks some rice paddies. It is on this terrace that you can sit and observe village life moving up and down the access lane-way and also watch the daily routines and antics of the ducks that forage in the rice paddies. The two bedroom, two bathroom villa is very comfortable and the kitchen/living area is well designed and overlooks the pristine lap pool and the gorgeous garden that features a wonderful variety of colourful orchids. Our house-boy Putu was quiet and unobtrusive and prepared and served a tropical breakfast for us each morning on the terrace. He also kept the villa spotless and was willing to do any shopping or other chores that were required. We highly recommend Villa Mimpi and would love to repeat our experience sometime in the near future.

“Luxury in paradise”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2013

We had a delightful stay at Villa Mimpi. The staff were very discrete and non-intrusive. If we wanted to be alone we could send him home for the day. The villa is beautifull and luxurious. There are many good restaurants within easy walking range. Lots to do and see in the area, but our favourite place was on the terrace overlooking the rice fields, relaxing and peacefull but always something happening to watch. We will definitely come back again.
