Description

Beautiful and unique getaway in Ka'u, Hawaii, with a view of the southernmost tip of the United States at Southpoint, Hawaii. A wonderful place to stop between Kona and Hilo or the volcano, or to stop and stay longer for a relaxing time away from the crowds and noise. You'll feel refreshed and re-energized by the quiet and serenity. The stargazing at night is incredible and the sunsets magnificent. Sunrises, if you enjoy the early morning, are also gorgeous.

Hibiscus Bungalow has been created with a unique eclectic style giving it a retro tropical feeling for the travelers from around the world. Beautiful tropical woods have been used extensively in the details. The kitchen has a 7’ long bar made from a 2” thick lychee wood slab with a live edge, the bathroom contains a 7’ long vanity made of avocado wood, all the windowsills are mango or lychee wood and the 10’ wide lanai facing the ocean is faced with mango wood.

The walk in shower is tiled in spa colored penny tiles and glass block walls with a pebble floor. A large jalousie window looks out into the garden.

The bungalow is ideal for 2 people. There is a queen size bed with a pillow top mattress.

“A Beautiful Space and Beautiful Hosts”

We spent 15 days on the Big Island with Sandy and Fred, and we appreciated each and every one of those days and nights we were there. We drove from Hilo to this home late at night, when we arrived Fred was there to guide us to our parking spot and to give us a quick tour of the space and to introduce us to the hot tub (which we totally used that night). He was so friendly and such a welcome sight after our drive. The space itself was out of a magazine. Gorgeous details, an incredibly comfy king-size bed, a lovely cross breeze that made the use of fans unnecessary at night, the tiling in the bathroom was gorgeous (thanks to Fred's handiwork), and the space itself was cozy and perfect - we had everything we needed in one spot. When we woke up the next morning the landscape took our breath away - it was otherworldly! Staying on a lava field was wild and beautiful! The view of the ocean greeted us each morning and I never got tired of seeing it. Sandy and Fred --- they are the best hosts we've EVER stayed with. So kind, friendly, helpful, generous, and thoughtful. I never ran out of lilikoi (passion fruit)! I felt like we were well taken care of as guests and I appreciated their hospitality. Honestly, we've never felt so welcomed or at home as we did with Sandy and Fred. I appreciated how centralized we were on the island, and it gave us an incredible sense of how diverse the climate zones are on Hawaii Island - we didn't mind driving so this location was perfect for our stay. Sandy and Fred are a wealth of information about the island, so if you're not sure about where to go or what to do, ask! We will definitely visit again, very soon. It took me a while to post this review because I don't fully feel like I've left that beautiful oasis. Mahalo Sandy and Fred!
