The Garden Room

The garden room faces south so gets the morning sun and when visible, the moon rise. The room feels private and tranquil. The neighborhood is peaceful and there is a lovely view into the garden and park beyond, and

up to Solsbury hill.

Decorated with a Mediterranean touch with terracotta tiles and soft pastel colours, the Garden room and its quiet outdoor patio overlooking our garden make you feel you really are on holiday somewhere in Provence.

In the Garden room you will find a selection of teas and herbal teas, instant coffee, sugar/honey/jam and butter, cereals together with milk and mineral water. We provide breakfast for the first morning only (croissants and bread). If you require any special diet please let us know. There is a co-operative shop just 5 minutes walk for you to top up your breakfast during your stay. The Garden room is equipped with a kettle, a mini fridge and a toaster, cups, mugs, plates, glasses and cutlery. Washing liquid and kitchen towels are at your disposal to wash your breakfast dishes and cutlery. Weather permitting you can enjoy your breakfast on the sunny patio and relax and enjoy the 'Dolce vita' feeling when the sun shines. It is detached from our house tucked under our decking. It has underfloor heating so that you can walk comfortably bare feet if you wish. Free WIFI.

Visitors access

Visitors can access the Garden room from the left side of the house through a blue gate, then walk through our decking and go down a steep stair case (see pictures). We advice visitors to be very careful on wet days when going down the steep stairs. Alternatively you can access the Garden room from the park (also locally named 'the back field'). The steep stair case access means that the Garden room isn't necessarily suitable for elderly people, very young children and people with limited mobility and eye impairment.

The Neibourghood

We live in a small and friendly community one mile away from the centre of Bath. There are convenience shops, pubs, a pharmacy, a hardware shop, 2 garages, and a café within a few hundred yards of us, while a 5 minute

downhill walk will take you to Larkhall, our local village, which has a good range of shops including a supermarket, takeaways and an excellent deli as well as another café. We even have our own theatre, The Rondo theatre, if you are looking for entertainment in the evening! Please treat the neighbours with respect and particularly when you come back late at night from town: keep the noise down - we are in very good terms with the neighbours and don't want to disturb their sleep.

Getting Around

You have a 20 minute walk - flat and then downhill - into central Bath. If you don't want to walk back up the hill there are buses every 30 minutes. The bus station is right next to the train station. The no. 7 bus to Larkhall will bring you straight here. If you don't want to wait for the next no. 7, get onto a no. 6 to Larkhall (ask the bus driver to stop at Hill view Rd).

There is free parking in our road and if you arrive after 9 am and before 5pm there are generally plenty of spaces available. If you arrive in the evening then it will be much harder after people get home from work.

From Bristol Airport there is a bus service running every hour to the bus station in Bath. A taxi costs £40-45 from Bristol.

Buses and trains run very frequently to London (by train it takes one and half hour to get to London and 10 minutes to get to Bristol). On a fine day why not walk up to Solsbury hill, it takes 20 to 25 minutes and from up there you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the city of Bath. You may have heard or played the song 'Solsbury hill' by Peter Gabriel: this is the hill you can see from our house.

Please note we have just furnished the Garden room with a double bed + new mattress for a better comfort of our guests. A shed is available to lock 2 adult sized bikes in.

REMINDER: Please be very careful when going down the staircase to the Garden room. It is very steep (see pics)

Under floor heating: Please do not attempt to reset the temperature but come and see us if you need assistance.

We have a lovely friendly cat named Minky. She might come and say hello to you.

HOUSE RULES

No hen/stag parties. Toilet: No plastic, no bottle caps, no cotton buds (Q-tips), no tampons or sanitary towels, no bandaids, no razor blades and definitely no condoms! Putting any of these objects in this toilet would make it explode (or something like that). So please observe these simple instructions and save your deposit. Thank you! No pets, no smoking on the premises. Smoking is allowed outside on the patio. As we don't charge for cleaning we expect guests to leave the Garden Room as they find it, clean and tidy, if not we will charge £20.
