Description

Our Hideaway cottage is on Tawas Lake, a great fishing lake. The living room has windows overlooking the lake. There is a deck on the lake side, and shade trees. There is a picnic table in the yard, and a swing to enjoy the evening sunsets.

Bluegills, bass, and pike are waiting for you to catch them! Tawas Lake has one of the largest wild rice populations in the State, and the fish love it. We provide an aluminum row boat you can use. We have life jackets available, so just ask for them if you need them.

Downtown East Tawas is a mile away, with nice places to eat and shop. East Tawas is on Lake Huron, and has both a great sand beaches, and the State Dock where your family can take a walk in the evening with an ice cream cone! If you decide to bring a larger boat, you can rent a slip at the State dock for your stay, and enjoy Tawas Bay. Tawas City, another mile or so to the West from East Tawas, also has great beaches and a newly reconstructed pier. Tony's Tacos is a great place to grab a good lunch, right on the beach in Tawas City, at the park.

If you're a fly fisherman, the Augres River (one of the best trout streams in North America) is about 10 miles north and runs west across the state. If you're a hunter, all of the Huron National Forrest begins on the other side of the lake, a few driving miles west.

There is a lighthouse on Tawas Point you can visit, and many more sand beaches there for picnics, kite boarding, and swimming. There are often weekend festivals on weekends throughout the summer, and sometimes live music. In the fall, the trees burst with intense shades of color, and we highly recommend Fall visits.

The cottage has a queen size bed in one bedroom, a pair of twin beds in a second bedroom (comfortable for adults, too), and a queen sized pull-out sofa bed. Sheets and towels are provided. The cottage is fully furnished. Just bring your personal items, food, and coffee! The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to make family dinners.

This is our family cottage, and we hope you have as much fun here as we've had. If you'd like a relaxing family vacation of your own, please consider staying with us! Getting around

You should bring a car as taxi or Uber service is spotty. You can bring bicycles, and ride around the neighborhood, or to the East Tawas beaches. This is a safe environment for families and kids.

Interaction with guest

We live in the neighborhood at the corner of Geller St and Wood St. The address is 930 Geller St. If you need anything, help with a boat, life jackets, something for the kitchen etc., just stop by and ask! If we can make your stay more pleasant, we are happy to do that!

How do damage deposits work?

If Lee (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
