Description from owner

Description

We have refurbished this fabulous old building using local craftsmen. The building was originally a national school for many years from 1884. It then became a post office and shop for over 40 years. The result of this refurbishment is a comfortable and spacious holiday home that is full of character. There are fabulous views of the sea at the front and views of the mountains at the rear of the property

There is a new fully equipped spacious and modern kitchen as well as a separate hall with wood burner which is a great space for entertaining. (The hall measures c. 8 metres by 7 metres and is 6 metres in height). It is very close to the Urhan Pub (less than 100 metres) so you can wander down for a pint of Guinness or a glass of wine and take in the breathtaking views of Coulagh bay. There are lots of things to do in the local area and the local village of Eyeries is approximately 3 miles away with a shop, restaurant and other amenities. It is around 10 miles from the busy fishing village of Castletownbere. There is table tennis and badminton for the hall and a netball net for outside as well as fabulous walks in the local area. After all that activity you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity in front of one of the Woodburning stoves in either the kitchen or main hall. There is a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, microwave and large electric range for feeding large groups. The property would be ideal for large family or group as well as for 2 families as there are separate sleeping areas in different sides of the property. For the musical among you there is also an electric piano which we would encourage you to play. The property sleeps 14 comfortably

This house was just amazing!! We were a family of 12 staying at this property for a family celebration in June. We had ample space and never felt in each others way. There are 7 bedrooms 4/5 bathrooms. The main hall was superb, we spent most of our time there in the evenings. It had a log burner, table tennis table, a fantastic sound system and also had disco lights which was fun. It also had a very large dining room table which sat the 12 of us. The kitchen was very big and fully equipped. We had The Urhan Inn pub just 100yds away which was fantastic, we had 3 great nights there and met lots of locals, the owner of the pub was also the caretaker of the house, he was non intrusive but there if we needed him.Daniel & Mary the owners of the house were very prompt with communication and very informative. This is a house not to pass if one is looking for accommodation in this area. We will be back ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️

Response from the owner Delighted you enjoyed your stay and thanks for such a lovely review. You are very welcome back. Warmest regards Daniel and Mary (+Iain and Eimear)
