“Impeccably clean, stellar service, amazing location. Delicous catering.I would book again.”
This house is spectacular. The history is interesting and the house details are supreme. We booked for my mom’s 70th bday for 14 women. Bob and his team were responsive and so easy to work with. The location on forsythe park is perfect and everything is so easy to get too. Book it. You won’t regret it
Response from the owner Thank you for such a kind review!
We used the Whitman for a corporate mixer, and had an outstanding experience. We had about 75 attendees. The space worked very well, and the food (provided by the Whitman chef) was excellent. We got rave reviews from our guests.
“Excellent Birthday Venue”
Spend a 60th birthday weekend with family and friends in spacious accommadations, including a separate carriage house. Room for an outdoor oyster roast and barbecue. Beautifully decorated historic home with large kitchen and hidden room ,located close to downtown restaurants and shopping. Owner and manager expertly catered the event.
“Awesome Women's event at the Whitman”
I was honored to be invited to HunterMaclean's Women Initiative Wine Event last night at the fabulous Whitman. Over 60 of Savannah's finest female Ceo's enjoyed wines on the front porch of the Whitman with an amazing view of Forsyth Park. Steve and Bob were wonderful hosts and served the most delicious salmon i have ever tasted. The mozzarella bruchetta was also so delicious. Everyone loved touring the home and especially loved the unique hideaway bedroom. So clever. Thank you HunterMaclean for such a delightful evening.
“The Whitman is spectacular”
We rented the Whitman as a home base for our daughter's wedding. From the moment we walked in the door and took the quick tour with Bob Vardzel, the manager, we knew we had struck gold. The house is meticulously renovated and grand, yet we felt immediately at home and like it was our house for the time we were there. Bob was a supportive presence but never in the way, and was always respectful of our space. Bob and owner Steve were both superb hosts, helping us with great advice on getting around Savannah and finding the things we needed to pull of the wedding. Bob with Steve's help catered the rehearsal dinner, a delicious low country boil, which we'd planned for outdoors but a storm forced in doors. But no worries, Bob and Steve managed to quickly rearrange the furniture, set up the food on the veranda and we had a splendid dinner. Afterward more guests showed up for drinks and the house could easily accommodate the 60-70 people who hung out inside or on the porches or in the 3rd floor. Bob also put together the continental breakfast the morning after the wedding. Once again 60-80 people passed by and hung out with the space never feeling cramped. The weather had cleared and the back yard was also a great place for groups to soak up the sun and chat. The house is very well set up for this kind of function with dishes, cutlery, glasses and supplies, and frankly, having Whitman House was really a major part in making the wedding a big success. It is also beautifully situated on Forsythe Park and an easy reach for guests who are staying anywhere in the historic district. For children there are two great playgrounds in the park just across the street. We couldn't recommend Whitman house highly enough. It's not a low-priced option, but for us it was unquestionably worth every bit. It allowed us to relax about the ebb and flow of people all weekend and also was a great place to just experience and enjoy on our own.
