“Wonderful Beach cottage”
We spent 5 days here and could not have been happier. Beach is a short walk down a small lane, and absolutely beautiful. The cottage had all the amenities we needed, it was private and very quiet. Our host Robert, greeted us on arrival and left us with lots of great info on the local area and good recommendations for dining. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!
“Great cottage in best part of Kailua”
We live in Kauai and periodically come to Oahu to visit friends or to for medical appointments. For a recent 4-night trip, we decided to stay in a vacation rental rather than a hotel; we chose Kailua because the beach there is white sand-aquamarine water spectacular and is an easy drive to Honolulu mid-day. We were lucky to have stayed is this well laid out, very reasonably-priced guest cottage. It is in the back yard of a house on a cul de sac in the best part of Kailua. I am cynical enough to believe when a website says that the accommodations are within a circular shaded area that includes a main thoroughfare, that the house is on the busy road. But, after checking with Bob, the owner (who was highly responsive at all times), it turned out that the house was far enough from the main road that we never once heard any traffic noise. His property is both quiet and on the makai (ocean) side of the main road running along the Kailua shoreline. The house is a very short walk on the cul de sac leading to a private beach access path. Kailua Beach is the real deal, unspoiled (and uneroded) sand dunes. The water is warm and clear. The cottage was perfect in all respects. Comfortable bed. A no-fuss floor. A quiet refrigerator. Perfect sleep for 4 consecutive nights, and comfortable for hanging out during the day. The pool has no chlorine. Bob is a perfect example of a hard-working professional who has lived in Hawaii many years and enjoys what the Pacific brings to those fortunate enough to live in Hawaii. He is an avid canoe paddler. He works out of his home office such that he is available to answer any arising questions you have, yet he is never intrusive. Oh, and one more thing. We have two well-behaved Portuguese Water Dogs. We asked whether notwithstanding his stated no pet policy, we could bring our dogs. Bob said we could. The dogs loved their stay as much as we did, if not even more!
