La Petit Cottage is nestled in Paradise Canyon, along side Cedar Creek, surrounded by mountains and pines and is close to all the quaint shops and restaurants. You can golf, gamble, ski, ride horses or just relax! If you like the romantic, rustic French country style, you'll love our Cottage. Newly remodeled bath, with a rain shower head, vessel sink, pebble lined shower base, that retains a natural cottage feel.


There's a lovely deck on the back to watch the creek meander by and deer stop to take a drink! It's very peaceful and serene--the perfect place to drink a cup of hot tea/chocolate and watch the world go by! Our kitchen is fully equipped and we provide our quests with different teas and locally packaged coffee to try while at La Petit Cottage.

During the winter, wrap up in a cozy throw and enjoy the warmth from the fireplace. La Petit Cottage is good for couples, girl friend weekends and romantic getaways.

House rules

Guests are expected to clean up after themselves, including washing dishes, putting them away, taking out trash & replacing trash bag, making beds & vacuum entire cottage, at the end of their stay. $65 cleaning fee is for washing sheets and towels. Limit 6 pieces of firewood/night & no fires on the day of departure. Fireplace and COLD ashes must be cleaned out and firewood replaced. Thermostat should be left on 70, in the fall/winter/spring when guest leave (protect pipes). 4 persons max.

The cabin was very nice. It was perfect size for me and my 3 kids. My only 2 complaints is you can smell dog urine in the main bedroom if you close the door and the bed is off set so 2 people sleeping… More

Response from the owner Hi Stephanie, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We’re sorry to hear that you smelled urine in the master bedroom-we’ll look into that. As for the queen size adjustable bed, the off set is just a normal occurrence of the split queen and we’ve never had any complaints about it from other guests—although I can understand if someone isn’t use to it, it might seem awkward. We both have bad backs and love being able to individually adjust the head and foot and using the massager. Hopefully you found everything else satisfactory and enjoyed the serenity of sitting on the back deck.

Thank you for your suggestion on stating that there isn't any air-conditioning at the cottage. I agree, it can be a issue if someone is heat sensitive, especially during hotter months like June, July, August and September. I work on getting that into the description, as we want to accurately represent our little cottage, so that everyone knows what to expect going in. Our Co-Host Kaye said you left the Cottage in great condition, and we thank you for that.

Response from the owner Dear Leonard, we're sorry that you had a bad experience during your stay with us. We did try to get someone over there to address the problem; however, since it was late on Friday evening when we were notified and Ruidoso is a small town, we couldn't get anyone there on the weekend. We had two plumbers come out on Monday to review the problem of sewer gas smell and were told that they couldn't smell anything, and that sometimes when the atmospheric conditions are just right (I realize that sounds like gobbly-goop, but I promise it's a real thing that happens in the mountains) that sewer gas smells from other places can smell like they're coming from your location. We are working with TripAdvisor to make the adjustment back to you that we spoke about. Your patience is appreciated. Sincerely, Sophie McDougal
