Description from owner

Description

Mid 19th century, recently restored cottage, next to church in the centre of the beautiful village of Dunster with its castle and medieval yarn market. It is situated ideally in the village on a quiet, residential street but within a couple of minutes walk of all the facilities in Dunster, including the Castle.

Floral Cottage has been decorated in keeping with its age but to give a light, airy feeling and finished with quality and antique furnishings.

The ground floor consists of living area with large fireplace (from mid September 2020 with log fired wood burner), underfloor heating, dining area and fully fitted kitchen leading out to a walled patio area with garden table and chairs.

Upstairs there are two double bedrooms, the front bedroom has a kingsized bed and the smaller back bedroom is fitted with two single beds. There is a family bathroom with over bath power shower. Gas central heating via radiators is provided upstairs.

Parking is available on the road opposite the cottage.

Use of a shared communal garden is also available

A welcome pack of grocery essentials together with a homemade cake and fresh flowers will be provided in the cottage on arrival.

The West Somerset Railway is close by and is a more relaxing way to enjoy the countryside on an old steam train.

“Beautiful cottage”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2020

Absolutely lovely cottage. Everything you need for a few days away. Spotlessly clean. Little touches of homemade cake on arrival, fresh flowers made it even more welcoming. The host Janet goes even further and provides the essentials of tea, coffee, milk, bead and butter so there’s no need to dash out to the shop as soon as you arrive. Dunster itself is a beautiful unspoilt town with so much history to explore. Also an ideal base for exploring Exmoor or visiting the coast.. On occasion, parking right outside the house was unavailable but there we always found somewhere close by to park if this was the case. Overall, myself, my husband, and our two teenage boys had a wonderful time away and I cannot rate this cottage enough.

Response from the owner Many thanks for this review. I would just like to confirm, as detailed in our listing, that in addition to the courtyard garden behind the cottage, there is also the use of the private communal garden for the exclusive use of these cottages. This is just a few metres from the cottage. With regards to the tv, we are trying to keep a cottagey atmosphere in keeping with the age of the cottage and the feel of the village of Dunster. We feel that a large screen tv would dominate the decor. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Floral Cottage.
