“Perfect celebration of 50th anniversary”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2018

A quiet place, without much for breakfast. No security. Melita was very nice and accommodating.but you had to ask for anything you wanted. Very concerned about use of electricity and production of ice in the ice machine. Seemed concerned about us fixing our own meals. A nice place but not a B&B as I would define it.

Response from the owner Thank you for your review and we again wish you a happy 50th anniversary. Our B&B is not set up with cooking facilities for our guests as we mention in all our advertising so cooking meals on site is not expected. The Abineau Lodge is definitely not a typical B&B. After serving full home cooked breakfasts for 18 years we noticed a big change in our clientele. Most people no longer want to eat large breakfasts and do not like having a set breakfast time. We decided to drop our rates by $20 per night and go to a self serve continental plus breakfast available at any hour of the morning for the convenience of our guests. We do always encourage folks who are looking for a B&B to contact the innkeepers with questions regarding amenities, policies or other matters before making a reservation. The great thing about B&Bs is that they are all unique. If you are looking for a specific style, or specific amenities be sure to research before booking. As to security the Lodge is equipped with a fully functioning fire sprinkler system throughout, all rooms have hard wired smoke detectors, each room has a deadbolt and locking entry knob, all rooms have emergency egress and our location in a virtually crime free area on a private access road make other security measures unnecessary. We understand that folks who are used to living in larger communities may be less comfortable with the relaxed nature of living in the country but having lived on the property for 23 years we personally have no concerns for our safety and hope that our guests appreciate the feeling of freedom one gets by not being afraid of one's surroundings. The biggest safety issue we have is the possibility of tripping over a porcupine or running into an elk in the yard.
