Cottages by the Ocean is a small, well-kept property of charming Key West-style cottages in Pompano Beach on the North side of Fort Lauderdale. The King Studio is great for up to 3 people: couples, singles, small families, biz travelers. Choices also include a queen studio and a 1/1 cottage. Less than two blocks from Pompano's sensational new beachfront - one of S Fla's prettiest public beaches with life guards. Short walk to dozens of restaurants, shops, nightspots, snorkel/dive/fishing boats, jet ski, boat rentals and Water taxi. Top-rated on TripAdvisor. White Glove Award winner by the Superior Small Lodgings Assn.
This is an historic property for Pompano Beach. Built in the 1940s, this small complex comprised the first "resort" cottages when everything else was pineapple fields. It is also a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation for native and migrating birds and butterflies in a special program for businesses, backyards and schools.
As a multiple White Glove Award-winner, this property offers no contact check-in and hospital-grade cleaning. Enjoy tropical gardens, full kitchens, free Wi-fi, king bed plus sleeper sofa in living area, beach gear and a host of amenities to make you feel right at home. A coin laundry and BBQ area are also on property.
Miles of shoreline allow for long, uninterrupted runs or walks. Looking north, you’ll see our state-of-the-art new fishing pier and historic Hillsboro lighthouse. Shipwreck Park is just one mile offshore, with 17 awesome wrecks including the 324-foot Lady Luck, plus sunken artworks. The beachfront includes a "great lawn" with morning exercise classes and monthly free live concerts and free movies on Friday nights. There's also an interactive splash fountain for kids, a concession stand including adult beverages, electric rental bikes, first-come first serve oceanfront charcoal grills and clean restrooms.
The Cottages are centrally located on a quiet street in the safe, ocean-side community of Pompano Beach, 15 minutes north of downtown Fort Lauderdale and 15 minutes south of Boca Raton. It’s a five-minute drive to the new Pompano CitiCenter shopping mall, movie theaters, state-of-the-art tennis and aquatics complex, dog park, air park for private planes and the Goodyear Blimp base, 36-hole city golf facility with its Greg Norman signature course and driving range. The smoke-free ISLE Casino is a 15-minute drive. I-95 is a 10-minute drive for easy access to all South Florida business centers, shopping and attractions.

Many of our guests, like you, say that Cottages by the Ocean and our other nearby properties listed on FlipKey/TripAdvisor are even nicer than the many photos they see on our listings. Our tropical gardens and manicured yards are all Certified Wildlife Habitats by the National Wildlife Foundation, meaning we provide food, water, shelter and places to raise young for migrating and native birds and butterflies. The Cottages themselves are historic for our area - the first little resort cottages at the beach when everything else was pineapple fields (1940s).

Your only complaint was a valid one, that we have attempted to address. We really only recommend use of our sleeper sofas for children, and not for adults if a stay is more than a couple days. Most all of our apartments and cottages have sleeper sofas in the living rooms, and each time we purchase a new one, we get rid of the mattress that comes with it and buy the best possible sleeper sofa mattress to use instead of the cheaper original. We will take a look at that sleeper sofa mattress, and if there is a problem with it, we will absolutely replace it. Thanks so much for calling it to our attention. You are welcome back any time!

To reply to your comment about no swimming pool where you stayed, we have four other highly rated properties within a few blocks of Cottages by the Ocean, and most of them have swimming pools, so perhaps you would like to try Bahama Beach Club or Pineapple Place next time.
