Description

Situated in the heart of the historical Marrakech medina just 1.2km from the main square of Jemaa el Fna, Riad Dar Zaman is a traditional 18th century Moroccan home that has been refurbished to create a luxurious guest house. Retaining many of its original features, the riad is tastefully furnished with rich local fabrics, African artwork, soft Berber rugs, pots and beautiful handmade furniture.

This listing is for one double room in our guest house. This charming room has a queen sized bed, built-in wardrobe and log fireplace. The walls are finished in crisp white with natural tadelakt (a Moroccan form of polished plaster) accents on the walls and on the floor.

The queen sized bed can be configured as two single beds.

The en-suite bathroom has a shower, wash basin and toilet.

We offer a high level of discreet personal service, including a comprehensive welcome brief and 24/7 concierge for all your needs in Marrakech. Our aim is to enable our guests to experience the “not for tourist” Marrakech, the Marrakech we've come to know and love over the last ten years.

Our team will happily share their excellent knowledge of Marrakech with you – where to buy things and the prices you should pay, where to get the best spa treatments, where to take your cooking class (at Dar Zaman!), and where you can eat a tagine seated metres from a stunning waterfall in the Atlas Mountains.

A sumptuous breakfast is included in the room rate – a wonderful choice of fresh bread, croissants, pastries and crepes with honey and jam, yoghurt and eggs, served with freshly squeezed orange juice, tea and coffee.

Our housekeeper, Karima, has been feted for her delicious Moroccan dishes. Dining at Dar Zaman is a feast for the senses. Karima can make many favourite local dishes, such as briouattes, pastilla, lots of delicous salads (Moroccan salads are mostly cooked vegetables delicately flavoured with spices), tagines - chicken with lemon, lamb with prunes or figs, couscous dishes, vegetarian options...whatever you choose, you'll be in for a true gastronomic delight!

Getting around

Consider a holiday in the medina as a walking holiday as there is very little car access inside the ancient medina. The closest taxi point to the riad is a 400m walk - the advantage of this is that there is no traffic noise pollution at the property. If walking is a challenge for you a solution would be to use the services of a tuk-tuk taxi to transport you around the narrow streets. We can help you hire one of these.
