Response from the owner Thank you for the review of Hilltop Cottage. We do find it strange that you found the cottage 'freezing', as we stay over ourselves on a regular basis. There is of course a thermostat on the landing which can be adjusted to each holiday makers preference. Likewise, the water temperature can easily be increased on the boiler as you have said. With regard to the log burner, these are not designed to be cleaned of all ash as they burn better with a thin layer of ash under the logs. We provide a 'welcome pack' of coal and logs which is easily sufficient for a couple of nights. We do encourage our quests to contact us if they have any problems but unfortunately we were not made aware of the above issues and were therefore unable to do anything about it. We believe that the facilities at Hilltop are of the highest standards and we would always strive to resolve any problems our guests might have if we are given the opportunity. Phil and Elaine
