Description

The house is called "Treetops," named for its iron plaque set above the fireplace and for its green perch in the trees. It is a large, rambling house in the woods with a wrap-around porch, overlooking trees grown up from the former cranberry bog in front, creating acres of peace to the Centerville river beyond.

Treetops is a family home, built in the 1920s and renewed over time, set at the end of a sandy road behind the historic village of Craigville. It is a welcoming space for everyone.

The house is peaceful and rustic, with many amenities. It is suitable for families, as well as couples or small groups who want a woodsy getaway that is close to the beach, and the restaurants, shopping, and Island ferries (to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket) of nearby Hyannis.

The famous Kennedy compound in Hyannisport is a five-minute drive away toward Hyannis, and the historic and elegant villages of Centerville and Osterville close by to the east. Famous Four Seas Ice Cream is in Centerville.

There is a lovely, short walk from the house to Craigville Beach.

“Pleasant stay in the woods”

This house grew on us to turn our week into a very comfortable stay. Initially we were put of by it - location in the woods, limited ac in only one of the bedrooms. But luckily it cooled down at night and the fans helped bring the temperature down to sleep very comfortably The location turned out super for us even though I couldn’t walk to the beach. My son and his mother had no problems walking to the beach. So for me we had to drive. We were very close to stores and restaurants. Enjoyed driving to Daily Paper for breakfast , and to the attractions in Centerville- country store, ice cream shop,library. Near by is Our Lady of Victory church if you don’t want to go to St Francis Xavier in Hyannis A short walk from the house is a town green. Plenty of parking. Lovely area. My main problem with the house was the stairs. I really appreciated the extra grab bars at the top of the stairs and in the bathrooms. One bath is located upstairs outside of the 3 bedrooms. This bathroom has only a tub. There are sky lights in the bedrooms with no shades. We were able to improvised covering them. The lower level has a bathroom with walk in shower, and a nice size bedroom. There is also a large tv room with a door to the outside. If there are 2 families,and you need space, this lower level can be occupied by one of them. 1 bedrooms and lounge area, bathroom. Just need to share the kitchen area upstairs We really didn’t use the living. A bit dark since it is surrounded by the enclosed porch. A great place to relax with 2 lounge chairs. A very big plus is the help provided by Sky, the owner. Any questions she was there to answer them. She was an angel leaving so basic food items in the fridge and welcoming gifts, I would have given the house a higher rating but -there was no microwave. Very inconvenient -no beach pass. So you have to pay to use the beach, and some beaches are only for residents. So you are restricted Lastly we do highly recommend having a tv on the porch Thanks Sky for your warm welcome, making our stay so wonderful!
