This "LightHouse" -secretly tucked behind the mangrove jungle- is our beacon, our home, a materialized dream of a sun-kissed retreat in this salty, seaside fishing-village.
Puerto Morelos is a hidden gem halfway between Cancun and Playa del Carmen that retains its laid back, bohemian, small-town vibe at the heart of the Riviera Maya.
DESCRIPTION
Your vacation home is awaiting you only 22 minutes drive from Cancun International Airport, a mere 6 mins. (14 mins. if you prefer cycling) to the beach or into town. And about 35 mins. if Cancun or Playa del Carmen happen to be in your itinerary.
Feel in the comfort of your own home in this brand new, bright and modernly decorated 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house in a 24 hr security-surveilled and gated complex.
Stroll Puerto Morelos, a quaint fishing village bursting with authenticity and Mexican character. Shop for local goods and retreat back at the end of the day to make yourself a gourmet meal in the stylish kitchen, fully stocked with utensils and properly equipped with brand new appliances.
Enjoy ample seating space in the living room, 55" HD TV and dining area with LED remote-controlled ambient lights that lend to a relaxed stay. Take advantage of the sun-soaked private patio, with shaded lounging, hammock and eating areas.
Borrow the cooler for your trips to the beach and take advantage of all the amenities we've put in place for your comfortable stay: washer & dryer, dishwasher, fans in all rooms and 4 AC units throughout the house, 2 parking spaces on the driveway, plenty of linens and towels, a very well equiped kitchen, potable water dispenser, 2 king size mattresses + 4 single mattresses.
GUEST ACCESS
Guests can access all areas of the house as well as the complex's common areas such as the wading pool, gardens and palapas.
COMMUNICATION WITH GUESTS
We keep close communication with guests via email/private messaging at all times (or via phone when necessary). We live outside the country but have a wonderful hostess -who lives in the same residential complex- helping us with the up-keep of the house and caring for the comfort of our guests. She is also often available to offer home-made meals to our guests (at an additional cost) if they so desire.
RESTRICTIONS
The house is not suitable for children under 8 yro (unfortunately) as most of the decor and furnishings were chosen for adult living and entertaining.
THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Puerto Morelos is the oldest natural port of Quintana Roo, a coastal fisherman's town that retains its authenticity and Mexican character with wide, white sandy-beaches nestled between protected mangroves and colorful coral reefs which are part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef (the second-largest coral reef in the world), fantastic for snorkeling or scuba diving.
GETTING AROUND
Just 6 minutes drive (14 min cycling) to the beach or to town, which will cost you only $50 MX pesos ($4 dollars) if you use a taxi. Taxis and Uber are easily and readily available as is public transportation (collectivos) which for $25 MX pesos ($2 dollars) will take you to Cancun, Playa del Carmen or any point of interest along the coastal area.
PLACES OF INTEREST
Make sure to visit Croco Cun Zoo, the botanical gardens, the Faro Inclinado (leaning LightHouse), swim in fresh water sink holes “cenotes”, go to the must-vist Mayan ruins: magnificent Chichen Itza, Cobá, Tulum and El Rey and the nearby theme parks Xcaret, Xplor, Xel-Há, Xenses, Xenotes, and Xoximilco. Enjoy the fine Restaurants and Cafés in town and the plentiful night-life options.
Venturing into the jungle will allow you to discover the famous Mayan Jungle Market on Sundays (during season), and Spa Day on Wednesdays.
