Description

La Vieille Ferme (The Old Farmhouse) at Gayon, once a working farm, is now a tastefully renovated traditional stone longere, offering holiday breaks in Morbihan, southern Brittany. Le Grenier is a bright and spacious 2 bedroom traditional Breton stone cottage, located at the end of our longere, with a stylish, comfortable interior. It can sleep 4, and has an airy open-plan kitchen, dining room and lounge on the ground floor, with a wood-burning stove for those cosy cooler evenings; upstairs a romantic double room with Juliet balcony, a generous twin-bedded room, and a family shower room.

The cottage overlooks a sunny and charming 18th century stone porcherie and original bread oven to the front, and has a private, enclosed garden to the rear, with its own barbecue and outdoor seating.

A perfect couples retreat, but also ideal for small families (cot, high chair and stairgate available on request).

Le Grenier shares an entrance hall with one of our other cottages, and has its own parking space to the side.

Situated at the heart of our 7 acres of wildflower meadows, fields and woodland, it enjoys views of beautiful countryside with abundant wildlife, yet is only two minutes drive from the nearest village.

Getting around

Cyclists love the Voie verte, and the scenic canal-side routes running from Nantes-Brest. You can even hire electric bikes nearby! And for the more energetic, our nearest VTT trail starts in Ruffiac. There are plenty of hiking trails too, not to mention stables for countryside horse rides. Trains run regularly from Redon, throughout Brittany, taking the strain out of travelling. We can offer our guests a discount off car hire with Rhino car hire, please enquire after booking.

Interaction with guest

We live at the far end of the stone longere at La Vieille Ferme, so will be here to hand you the keys, show you around, and then leave you to enjoy your holiday. We are happy to advise you on places to visit, and help wherever possible, but also know that you value your privacy.

Please note that the double bedroom has a window opening onto a Juliet (decorational) balcony, so care must be taken at all times.

Cleaning: Please leave the gite as you find it, clean and tidy, with the washing up done and put away, else a 30€ extra charge is applicable.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I make changes to my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your booking page. To change your dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Alan/Mandy (the owner) a message.

If Alan/Mandy (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
