Town: During the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens. There is walking close by with peaks to the north and hills and dales to the south as well as a number of towns dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale.
