Description

Taaiboschfontein is under new ownership. Taaiboshfontein Guest Farm a working sheep farm located in the Three Sisters area at the foot of the Nuweveld Mountains. Guests are invited to experience the peacefulness and tranquillity of the Karoo.

Accommodation is offered in 5 en-suite rooms in the main guest house, each accommodating between 2 and 4 guests. Just outside the main house, are 2 en-suite double rooms built from raw materials on the farm. There is also a private self-catering unit available situated within close proximity to the main house, which can accommodate a maximum of 6 guests and a minimum of 4 guests. This unit is ideal for a large family. There is also a Bush chalet available, which can accommodate up to 6 guests. The chalet comprises 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, as well as indoor and outdoor braai facilities, a fully equipped gas operated kitchen, electrical lighting, and hot water. The chalet has no electrical plugs. All our rooms is making use of solar electricity and generator power.

The Hunters' Hut is another option, and offers a lovely Karoo experience with no electricity, only oil lamps, a gas operated kitchen, and outdoor braai facilities. Hunters' Hut comprises 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and can accommodate up to 9 guests. Self-catering dinner options are available to guests in the form of braai packs, roosterkoek, and salads.

Apart from sheep farming, the farm also forms part of the Kromriver Riverine Rabbit Conservancy in a beautiful part of the Karoo, which is rich in animal and bird life, and also star gazing. Guests are welcome to enjoy a mountain climbing or just sit and watch the stars. There are also many activities for the whole family to enjoy such as hiking, feeding the tame farm animals, or cooling off in the uniquely styled Karoo swimming pool. Bike rides are an old time favourite activity on the farm with beautiful views and open landscapes. Bird lovers will find that the farm presents many different species to be discovered, and can enjoy regular visits from a night owl which walks up and down the lawn searching for insects. Home made products, cooldrinks and sweets can be purchased from the farm shop, as well as frozen Karoo lamb depending on availability.
