Description

Lavender Barn West is in Bourton on the water, the heart of the Cotswolds. The cottage is attached to Lavender Barn East. (The two cottages can be rented together to sleep 8 guests and have an interconnecting door.) It is a Cotswolds stone property situated a few hundred yards from the beautiful centre of Bourton on the water, often known as the Venice of the Cotswolds. The cottage is furnished and decorated to a high standard and is very homely. It is tucked away down a gravel drive shared with Lavender Barn East with parking for two cars for each property.

A welcome tray and fresh flowers are provided and for special breaks, such as Valentine's, Easter and Christmas, further treats await you.

Bourton on the water offers many attractive shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. Also nearby Stow-on-the-Wold is an ancient Cotswolds wool town. It has an old market square with stocks on the green and offers a wide selection of pubs, restaurants and specialist shops.

Walkers will enjoy the many countryside walks on the doorstep. The cottage is the perfect base from which to explore the Cotswolds. Bourton-on the-Water, Stow on the Wold, Upper and Lower Slaughter, Chipping Campden, Broadway, Burford and Winchcombe are all beautiful villages nearby. Oxford, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Warwick and Stratford-upon-Avon are all within 1 hour by car. There is a mainline train station going into London from nearby Moreton-in-Marsh.

Local attractions include: Batsford Arboretum, Model Village, Kiftsgate Court Garden, Cotswold Wildlife Park, Blenheim Palace, Sudeley Castle, Cotswold Farm Park, Snowshill Lavendar and National Trust properties, including; Hidcote Manor Garden, Chastleton House, and Snowshill Manor. Other activities include; horseriding, golf, cycling, fishing, swimming, theatre and trips to the races.

The cottage offers 2 bedrooms, which sleep 4 people. There is also room for a cot, which can be provided, along with highchair if required. Each bedroom has an ensuite, one with a bath and one with a large 1500 shower.

(Due to the Barn style of design the ceilings of the upstairs slope and there is restricted head height in places.)

Downstairs is an entrance hall, leading to an open plan living / dining / kitchen. There is a freeview TV with a built-in DVD player and a selection of DVD's, books and magazines. Wi-Fi is available. The cottage has gas central heating. (The cottage has an interconnecting door to Lavender cottage East which is kept locked, unless the two cottages are rented together.)

The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, fridge freezer, microwave and washing / dryer machine. There is also a dishwasher.

There is a gravel garden with a patio and garden furniture.

Parking for 2 cars.

Welcome tray on arrival.

Bed linen, towels and tea towels are provided.

“Fantastic”

Reviewed 12 Jun 2022

Well, arrived to a beautiful well presented cottage. Never have I stayed with somewhere so well equipped and provided for, down to bin bags, washing up liquid. Everything was immaculate, could not fault anything. Location was brilliant, couple minutes walk into the centre. We will be back. Thank you for a great holiday.

“Lovely relaxing Cotswolds stay”

Reviewed 30 May 2021

We had a lovely stay here. Perfect location, just a very short walk into the centre. Lavender Barn West was kitted out with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Full appliances and all utensils etc required for cooking in were provided. Very comfortable accommodation and would definitely stay there again if we come back to the Cotswolds.

“Beautiful Cottage In The Cotswolds”

Reviewed 27 May 2021

We had such a wonderful time staying at Lavender Barn West. Our friends (another family) were staying in the adjacent side of the barn. We were able to open the interconnecting door to the other place if we so wished, as we rented the two properties together. We were welcomed into a clean and well equipped holiday home, with fresh flowers and biscuits. The place looked very new, clean. The beds were good. Our friends were not so happy with their bed as they mentioned it was too soft. Both bedrooms had an en-suite bathroom. One with shower/sink/toilet and the other with bath/sink/toilet. Both houses are more or less the same, with flatscreen tv with DVD player. There’s a front and back garden with garden furniture. The location was excellent as it was a two minute walk to the Motor Museum, stream with bridges, restaurants and local shops. During our 3 day stay we also visited Birdland, the Model Village, the Dragonfly Maze and Tea Rooms. All in walking distance. The shops in the area are very cute. The location of the large Coop supermarket was so nearby, that every day we went their to treat ourselves to fresh bread. If visiting this area in the future, we would definitely choose to stay here again. Highly recommend.
