Alternatively, head up to Breckenridge, a 45-minute drive away, with your hiking boots laced up and ready to go. Come the colder season, the area offers award-winning ski runs and thrilling sleigh rides for the kids.

History buffs won’t find it hard to get their fix as they choose between a historic walking tour in Como, a driving tour along Weston Pass or a train ride under the Royal Gorge Bridge.
