This southwest style cabin is on the sunny side of Taos Canyon, adjacent to the Carson National Forest, close to hiking trails and nearby Rio Fernando. It is 500 feet higher in elevation than town so "cooler" in the summer. You have amazing views from both decks, a great space to connect with nature. Location is only 15 minutes (6 miles) from Taos Plaza, just close enough to be convenient and just far enough to be away from it all.

We have internet TV (Amazon Fire-Stick), with lots of movies, shows and sports channels set up,WiFi and DVD player, also books and games! This cabin is where the nationally renowned British author and lecturer, Stuart Wilde, lived and wrote four books called "The Taos Quintet" (we even had the privilege of meeting him, and if interested, would love to share that story!)

We are both very detail oriented, and ask all guests "what can we do to make it better yet?" Paper and soap products, kitchen spices, hair dryer, iron and board, alarm clock, private phone, fenced-in dog yard --just unpack and be on vacation!

You simply must "experience" the energy of Canyon View!

Getting around

Having a car to see all Taos has to offer, whether it be The Taos Pueblo, The Gorge Bridge, various historical sites, shops, galleries, restaurants, etc. is a must. There is a commuter bus in Taos, if you can get yourself to the pick-up points; but again, having a car is best.

Interaction with guest

Canyon View is on our private road off Pinon Trail; the cabin is about 1/2 way up, and we live at the very top. We can be as near or as far as most comfortable for you! We leave "lots" of guides, maps, hiking trail info. on the coffee table for you and are not too far away for any questions you may have. We love to do a "meet and great" of all our guests how ever brief or lengthy that may be. We have lived here in Taos for 25 years, and know the area very well (my husband, Mike, is quite the history buff!) We also actually lived in that very cabin for 20 years! Taos Canyon is our Taos Love!

House rules

Children should be at least 10 years old and well supervised due to the upper deck height. Same with any pets allowed onto the upper deck. Both bedrooms are upstairs (there are 2 -bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs). Pet Rules: Dogs not allowed on bedding or furniture, crate -trained preferred when away, please clean up the yard. There is a $50/pet fee for up to two dogs --sorry no cats. We live in a forest, so no open fires (fire pits) or BBQ grilling (propane is fine) -be "fire-wise!"

Perfect in every way. Seclusion combined with easy access to town and skiing. The cabin has the feel of a home vs. a rental, and the owners are great people. Book it, you won’t be disappointed.

And, we even ordered up a snow storm for added Holiday atmosphere! Yes, we do request that all guests either have an All or Front Wheel Drive vehicle, the private road in has a bit of an incline, and can get slick. (We do have a tractor and plow and keep it in good order, also shovel all walkways and sand them as well). Note: Traction Control won't do it for winter in Taos, indeed, it is not the same thing at all. Well it was a pleasure, and come back and see us again!
