“An amazing family house in Casteldaccia!”

Reviewed 3 Mar 2011

We were a group of 6 friends who had to change our plan at the last minute and decided to go to Sicily for a 5 day trips. Right from the start of enquiring for availability Maria had ensured me everything would be fine (note that I finally confirmed our booking 4 days before we were due to arrive!!). The moment we arrived at the villa, we were greeted by lovely alexandra, even though we had an interesting experiences trying to communicate (we didn't speak Italian at all!!), she had managed to sort out all our questions and enquiries, leaving us able to relax and enjoyed our stay. The house itself is very big and beautifully decorated with a lovely garden with lots of orange and lemon tree, its definitely a real home that people live in! Definitely not some shabby holiday apartment that has miss match furniture and uncomfortable beds.We particularly loved the kitchen and the lovely dining table, which we spent all our mornings enjoying breakfast and even found time to made a lovely supper one night when it was pouring with rain! Another lovely thing about the house is that it has 3 bathroom! This was definitely essential as we didn't have to fight for the toilet in the morning! The house being located in Casteldaccia might seem like a strange location, it not being a tourist town. But we absolutely loved it! There are so many local shops and bakeries just round the corner, our favourite is the wine and vine shop, and its 2 euro per bottle wine!! It is also very close to the highway, making it an idea location to explore Western part of Sicily. We managed to visit Erice and Segesta on one day and got the train to Palermo (2.20 euro each way). We even discovered the auchan shopping centre near the airport! We will definitely be back again, hopefully when the weather gets warmer!!! Thank you again for being such a great host!!

“Most wonderful time”

Reviewed 5 Jan 2011

Thanks a lot for a lovely week in this beautiful house and garden. We were three families from Uppsala/Stockholm in Sweden, here. We have had the most wonderful time in both Casteldaccia and the surrounding cities. To any future guests we could really recommend climbing the surrounding mountains, especially la 'Rocca del Castello' in Cefalu`. It definitely takes some time getting used to the traffic, however it's given us several stories to tell our friends back home. The people in Casteldaccia and on the rest of Sicily have been friendly and also warm. Also there is a restaurant in Palermo called 'Ferro di Cavallo' which served fresh, astoundingly cheap, genuine Italian food. We really suggest you visit said restaurant during your stay. Big thanks to Maria and Riccardo first of all for letting us stay here and secondly for the support you've given us whilst we've been here. 'Hej do!' “Our oasis on the terrace”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2011

Dear Maria and Riccardo, We have had a wonderful first week in Sicilia. We love the island, love Casteldaccia, love the attico and you. I am so glad I switched my rental from Cefalu` to Casteldaccia!! While Cefalu` is beautiful and a great day trip, we loved so much being here for the week. As great as our 'day' trips were, nothing was better than parking the car out front and walking up here to our oasis on the terrace. For those of you without a car the train and bus run right from Castedaccia -- we loved our day trips (sans car) into Palermo. I strongly recommend future travelers stay here!! If you do be sure to eat at a few of the local restaurants on the piazza - excellent. And, for sure, take a trip or two down to the local wine shop to fill up your water bottles with wine and the best Marsala I have ever tasted!! A wonderful fruit/veggie market is right around the corner and the owner speaks perfect English! Enjoy. We hope our next two weeks will be this great, Megan and Will from Wilmington, North Carolina, USa
