“Beautiful House with awesome View” My friends and I stayed here in late april/early May. The weather was perfect and we easily took the train to Florence, Lucca, Pisa and Rome from here. The house itself is beautiful and fully stocked. No need to pack extras, there were umbrellas, travel books, and even a ceramic flat iron to calm my frizzy hair. The balcony is a great spot to relax and enjoy the view after a long day of sight seeing. There is a quaint Italian restaurant a short walk away with great food. You can eat there or take it back to the house. Just a short taxi or bus ride takes you to the train station where you can travel to any other Italian cities.

“Rooms with a view!” One of the most peaceful and beautiful locations we have stayed in. Wonderful memories of sitting on the terrace outside the well-appointed house high in the Tuscan hills, with a distant view of the leaning Tower of Pisa, wooded hills all around, birds singing, a glass of local wine from the Colle Verde vineyard (north of Lucca)in my hand - absolute perfection! We loved this part of Italy and will be sure to visit again. Lucca is a must-see place, which we preferred to the busyness of Florence. Luisa and Colin were very friendly and helpful hosts, even offering to do an initial shop for us prior to our arrival. The drive up from the road requires a bit of skill and good tyres, but our two drivers were experts by the end of the week!

“Great stay in Tuscany” Nora and Fabrizio were wonderful hosts. Their house is beautiful and spacious. It is very clean and comfortable. We stayed two nights and had wonderful conversations with the hosts and other guests. They had guests from Russia, Germany, India, France, and Italy while we were there. We had a wonderful time. It is a great place to go to Florence, Pisa, or Volterre. Did I mention they have a beautiful deck with killer views of Tuscany? We highly endorse the Special - Scenic Tuscany Room.

“Wonderful!” My family and I just returned from a very relaxing week at La fonte and would definitely go back again. My parents, my husband, and my two boys stayed in the Spiga apartment. The weather was perfect, and we spent most of our days playing in the pool and taking bike rides from the house. We were greeted with some fresh eggs, pasta, fresh tomato sauce, and some of the best olive oil I have ever tasted (or smelled!). Katia and her family were all very nice and helpful. We went to Volterra and San Gimignano a few times and had gelato just about every night :) The boys were so happy at the house that we didn't travel more than that. We also lucked out and had the entire place to ourselves for the week we were there. We would highly recommend this place!

“Country Heaven” I am a city boy and never relized what I was missing in the countryside. This place was exceptional. There is so much room here and the openness is refreshing. The apartment is extremely well appointed and stocked. I was not used to open windows, but I quickly became a fan. To be able to look out your window, without screen or glass was exhilarating. The main bedroom window was the perfect picture frame for looking at the big dipper. Sunset was amazing. Waking up in the morning to sunshine and open windows was life changing. After having breakfast and while waiting for the ladies to get ready, I found myself laying on the bed in absolue bliss. So much so that during my peacefulness, I fell back to sleep. I have never done that before. The location is well suited for day trips and Florence is amazing. You may want to find an alternate way into the city since parking is expensive. I would definately consider going back to this location to explore more of Italy. I would even consider helping antonella during the harvest of olives. I could get used to this kind of life, which is the best compliment a city boy could give. Thank you antonella for a magical stay.

“Perfection in Tuscany” We spent a perfect week at this property, which combines the charm of a classic Tuscan villa with all the amenities of a luxurious modern home. The spacious, beautifully furnished villa and the adjoining guest house accommodated three families – a total of 15 people – in utmost comfort, with ample room for everyone to be occupied in their own preferred activities. We all enjoyed the villa’s private tennis courts and large swimming pool – dazzling under the Tuscan sun by day and beautifully lit at night – and the secluded grounds offered plenty of opportunities to wander off and find a favorite spot to just relax and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and neighboring mountaintop villages (a visit to Palaia being highly recommended) as well as the spectacular sunsets. We would then all regroup for meals together, which were a pleasure to prepare in the huge, exceptionally equipped kitchen and most often consumed around the massive table in the garden. Our only complaint about the truly memorable week we spent at this extraordinary property was that it passed far too quickly.

Water House in Gello hamlet, Tuscany
Paradise

We felt we had come home from the moment we first arrived and were shown into our house by the wonderful Carla accompanied by her old dog, Indie. That, in 2008, was our first visit of many - each time with our own dog and one or more of our sons. There we would receive friends as though it had always been our home. We would read in the shade. We would sip Campari and Blood Orange juice gazing at the view. All our meals would be out of doors. In the evening we would dine and chat to the sound of the assiuoli calling to each other in the tree tops. We love it that there isn't a swimming pool. In such a setting it would be a crass and ugly intrusion. Gello may be modest but it isn't vulgar. And it's no inconvenience. When we want to bathe or lounge by the water's edge, there is a very fine, public, open air pool - an astonishing amenity in such a small place - in the nearest village, Ponteginori, scarcely five minutes away; and only a little further off is the seaside where we have spent many happy hours. Such excursions, though, delightful as they are, only build up the joy of returning to the hilltop's peace and the landscape it surveys. That feeling of coming home is worth going away for.see more

Great House, Great Location

Our group of three couples chose Max and John's house in Castel del Bosco for its great location and roominess. The size of the house was more than adequate for our group and we really appreciated all the amenities that were provided. Even though it was late February when we arrived, we found it to be warm and cozy. Particularly useful for those that like to travel light is the washer and dryer. Another nice touch is the media room stocked with a large flat screen TV and two DVD players (European and american formats). The wi-fi connection works well and there are lots of guidebooks and information about the area. The village was not difficult to find, about a half hour drive from the Pisa airport just off the highway to Florence. As you can see from the pictures, the house has a beautiful view of the arno Valley as it sits atop a hill which provides an unobstructed 180 degree view across the valley to the hills containing Lucca. There are two well stocked supermarkets, each less than a fifteen minute drive, the Panorama in Pontedera which is gigantic and has everything, and the coop store in Santa Maria a Monte which has great meat, produce and a fresh bakery. The coop's wine selection is excellent as well. As others have mentioned, we very much enjoyed dining at Il Melograno in nearby La Rotta and the local pizzeria in the village, an easy walk from the house. This central location allowed us to take many day trips around Tuscany. We visited Florence on three different days, taking the train each time from Pontedera. This was a pleasant one hour trip which terminates in the heart of the city allowing you to walk everywhere. So, if you are looking for a comfortable, well equipped house with a great location for touring Tuscany with a tremendous view, you won't be disappointed staying at Max and John's.see more

Beautiful Home with Top Notch Accommodations

My group of 6 stayed here for a week, in May. The home is really stunning and first rate. It was beautifully decorated and has everything you can possibly need. Lots and lots of space, if you are traveling with a larger group. Amazing views from the patio, off of the main living room. We had zero issues with this rental and would definitely stay here again. The only thing I would change is our choice of transportation. We elected to not rent a car, but instead use the local taxi, bus and train service. That worked, but it did add considerable time to our day trips. So next time, we will rent a car. Also - one thing to keep in mind is that this rental is located in a small town. It's extremely charming, but your options for eating out are limited. Not a problem if you use the wonderful kitchen and bring along your favorite chef!see more

The perfect quiet place to see all of Tuscany

We stayed here for one week, and will probably come back again! Katia is a very friendly host and her pizza-nights are to remember. The apartments are spacious, clean and the building is on an excellent location to visit the rest of Tuscany. A small supermarket is nearby, which will supply you with everything needed to cook for yourselves. Many excellent restaurants in the neighborhood?. All in all, a very, very nice stay in a very nice place. Highly recommended!see more
