“Check one off the bucket list”
This you got to do! We checked out several "tree house" and we liked this the best! It had electricity, a stove and lights and fans-- all a must even if you are not in the hotter dry season like we were. And it's not a big hike to anything. The outside hot water shower was one of the best in all the places we stayed in CR the last several years. Very private, only saw anyone when we wanted to ask a question. Every room was open air, except the screened sleeping rooms and the views were awesome up in the tree tops. The monkeys came by twice a day to entertain, the birds were beautiful. Pictures really are not as good as when your are there. I did not know that living in a tree house was a childhood dream for my wife until she was telling friends after we returned. Wifi was awesome. We saw the Coco farm upon Blondies recommendation and it was worth it. We tried to get reservations, but the coco farm could not contact us , but Blondie took care of it for us - Thank you. This tree house is something Everyone should experience at least once in their life!
“Once in a lifetime experience”
My family spent four nights in the tree house in March 2014, and it was a truly incredible experience. The treehouse is something you would think only existed in imaginative fables or fairy tales - but it is there, surrounded by beautiful rainforest teeming with wildlife. The treehouse was comfortable and livable, with several cool sleeping rooms for our kids to fight over reach night. The kitchen was well equipped, and breakfast and dinner watching the sun rise and fall, listening to all the birds, was magical (especially with the headlight beetles!). The trails surrounding the treehouse were nice for short excursions, but the rest of Osa Peninsula was very convenient and accessible with a rental car. If you have the chance, take it. Staying in the treehouse was an unforgettable experience, and my family is already talking about a return trip. (One note on staying with kids - our kids were 8, 6, and 2, and accustomed to camping, being outside, climbing trees, etc. The railings at the house are minimal, and you have to trust that your kids will not climb on the railing or be rambunctious in the treehouse. It would not be hard for a kid to fall out of the treehouse if they were not being careful or not being supervised. Our kids got an ultimatum that if they acted crazy and we couldn't trust them in the house, we would have to leave. But they did great, and loved every minute of it, wanting to come home from the beach or hiking early to hang out at the treehouse!)
“Unique and fun!”
5 of us (4 adults, 1 child) had a spectacular week in the Treehouse. It lived up to and surpassed our expectations. Very unique; fabulous use of space, very comfortable. Vacation destination of a lifetime for people of all ages. We really enjoyed Puerto Jimmez too. Don't come here if you don't appreciate the outdoors and all it has to offer (Wildlife & Insects) or if you are not very mobile (lots of stairs [great excersise!])...

“The Experience of a Lifetime”
Despite all the photographs, we were not prepared for the beauty and awe-inspiring experience of living in the jungle canopy at Lapa's Treehouse. My wife Julie loved every minute, especially since she didn't have to cook one meal. We took advantage of the meal plan and the caretakers brought us beautifully cooked and delicious healthy meals every morning and night. It was a quick walk down the hill to the river, which was pristine and perfect for swimming. And there are beaches close to town and farther down the peninsula. We took a boat tour to the island where the naturalist lady has wildlife under her care and we saw whale sharks and hundreds of dolphins on our way over. We had a blast. My only caveat is that the roads up to Lapa's are steep, and rocky. I am an intrepid driver, but I would not attempt that at night. Fortunately, we had our dinner and a widescreen TV and DVD player was provided in the treehouse for late night entertainment. I recommend bringing your own Dvds though. The accommodations were exceptional, as was the hospitality. You really should go.

“Smiles from ear to ear during tree house introduction tour”
There was everything you could possibly want in the tree house. It is best if you are comfortable with frogs sleeping in the hanging coffee mug or the occasional lizard briefly sharing your living space. The best vehicle for ascending the final two inclines of the dirt and gravel private drive would be a four wheel drive. I thoroughly enjoyed living at tree canopy level and watching spider monkey packs move through early in the morning. The skylight on the top level is obscured by leaves and canopy debris and film but the night sky is fantastic from the clearings. The bird watching in the mornings is best from the decks of Lapa Song apartments where the less adventurous find comforts of spacious terrestrial housing. The path to the swimming hole in the river agujas is steep and long and I never had the time to reach the bottom. Agujas means needles and watch out for the sapling trees with the tree trunks covered with sewing needle sized defenses. I felt very much at home and want to return next year.

I must say that our trip to the beautiful Osa was a most delightful and incredible trip. But we had no idea that when decided to stay in the Lapa's Treehouse that we were making one of the best decisions for our entire trip! The treehouse is awesome - it is huge, layered and in the midst of nothing but beauty! There is so much to see from perched up high in your treehouse. So much so that if you just hang around for a day you will not feel cheated, as you will watch the monkeys swing by and birds of all sizes and colors will sing to you and they may land on any branch near - you won't get bored :) You actually feel at one with nature being both inside and outside at the same time - how does one describe that? It's hard, so you really should just go and live the experience for yourself. You will love it - we did :) I really think even the "luxury" vacationer would love it - it is a treehouse to be sure but... it is truly a wonderful place as well as experience! Also, if you can climb the stairs up - go for it, it's worth the climb and not too hard for bad knees :)!!! And Blondie, (sorry to not have met Michael as he was out of the country), wow she is amazing. She was right there to help with our every need along with Gilberto and anna. They honestly went above and beyond - these people are wonderful - all of them!

“Totally unique and fun!”
The tree house is hands down the best place to get in touch with the "adventurer" inside us all. We had all of the luxuries of modern living while still feeling like we we were living a Swiss Family Robinson episode. It was a blast! Taking a nap on the top floor was the highlight. We felt we were literally sleeping in the trees. And then the monkeys came through! To be right in the middle of nature like that was such a treat. We had so much privacy and quiet solitude. Netting for walls felt so exotic. And the tree house is made of the most beautiful hardwoods. The shower with the glass bottom was such a fun detail. Loved, loved, loved every minute. Mike and Blondie were very accomodating and housekeeping every couple of days was excellent. Peurta Jimeniz was a fun little town with great restaurants. The tourism in the Osa was excellent; very well run tours and exciting adventures. This was truly a once in a lifetime vacation that we will never forget. We didn't expect Costa Rica to be so beautiful, the people to be so lovely and there to be so many exciting things to do. The most amazing adventure of our lives to date was repelling down waterfalls. A must do if you are looking to face some fears and feel like you can do anything. Eat at the authentic Italian restaurant - a great pizza! We could go on and on and on. We can't think of one negative thing. If you're looking for all the creature comforts of home transplanted to a totally unique, wild and fun place, stay at the tree house!

“Don't miss out on this experience !!!”
Staying in the Treehouse was truly the most unique experience I have ever had. Every evening I would sit with a cup of coffee and watch the monkeys swing through the trees. I was eye level with them!!! The tree house is super cool and has all I needed yet I really felt like I was living Swiss Family Robinson. The kayaking into the primary land was wonderful as well as zip=lining. Don't miss the chocolate farm. And for a real treat go waterfall repelling and huge tree climbing. Blondie is incredible at helping set up all these fun things. She was helpful with all our needs. Everything was so clean and well maintained. The tree house was itself an experience. It is all open and the slight breeze comes comes through. I loved the way the rain pelted down yet I stayed dry--amazing. The grounds are gorgeous-little trails, flowers everywhere, and the vegetable garden was great. I picked lettuce, cucumbers and fresh cilantro. Mike and Blondie were incredible hosts. Ask her about having Marisio, the local musician come and play and sing for you. It was incredible if you like music. The variety of things to do is endless. Go on the boat and swim with dolphins. Next to the monkeys that was my highlight. What can a person really write about staying in a tree house in the rain forest and having all the nature you could crave just surround you. There are no words--you just have to experience it yourself. Walk down the trail and dip into your own private pool. This is where I was when I saw a spider monkey in a tree. From my hosts, to the activities to the tree house this proved to be the most peaceful yet fun vacation I have ever had. This is a once in a life time experience. If you go, would you wrap your arms around the huge tree that comes up through the middle of the tree house and tell it hello from Cyndi who will be back someday.
“A Family adventure to Remember”
If you are looking for a family adventure, the Lapa's Nest Treehouse is the ultimate experience. We chose the Treehouse to give our 10 and 11 year old daughters an authentic Treehouse experience in a not-so-touristy area of Costa Rica. We all loved it! We rented a 4x4 SUV in San Jose and made the 6 hour daytime drive with ease. All the roads are paved with the exception of the road to the Treehouse(my husband's favorite part of the drive). The Treehouse grounds are perfectly manicured with local flora, fruit, and a fresh herb garden. The Treehouse is well appointed with clean bedding, towels, dishes and all the cooking utensils that one would expect to find in a Treehouse. The plumbing, electricity, and WiFi worked perfectly during our entire stay. Our favorite times in the Treehouse were early mornings, drinking coffee and watching the monkeys and late afternoon/early evenings listening and watching the rain storms. We were in awe and thrilled to be up in the canopy.Late evenings took a little more time to get used to for the girls. We learned to shower, eat and clean up before sundown. We kept lights to a minimum to avoid flying friends. The girls loved sitting under the mosquito net to read or watch an iPad movie. The screened bedrooms were convenient.Blondie set up an itinerary before our arrival and not one adventure disappointed. We recommend the Serena Boat Tour, Finca Kobo Chocolate Tour and kayaking through the mangroves. Most importantly, take a hike on the property with the caretaker. We went through the rainforest, up a river, saw many animals, and even some gold miners.Puerto Jimenez is a non-touristy town located just 15-20 minutes from the treehouse. The grocery store had everything we needed. There were plenty of restaurants, a great bakery, delicious ice cream, and a pharmacy. The Treehouse is not a 5 Star hotel. It is an incredible 5 star Treehouse adventure! We are thankful to Blondie and Michael for sharing their home with us.These are memories for a lifetime.
“Closest to jungle immersion we could find in Costa Rica”
Our stay in the tree house was a beautiful adventure. Blondie was very helpful planning our excursions. It is quite secluded, and the town near the home was truly Costa Rican, without the touristy feeling of many other areas. The little dipping pool was refreshing, and our children loved the adventure outside every door and window. The sounds of nature were all around, and the beautiful rainforest surrounding the home is beautiful, authentic, and so easy to experience. The caretaker, Wilbur, was a wonderful rainforest guide, and the waterfall hike was perfect for our family! Be prepared to keep caveman hours (down with the sun, up with the sun), and to appreciate the quiet, solitary environment - it isn't for everyone, but we couldn't be happier that we skipped the orchestrated eco-tours so many others haave taken for a real and authentic trek into the life of the Osa Penninsula. We would not recommend the Poas Volcano and La Paz Waterfall tour from San Jose. While our driver, Erik, was wonderful and gracious, and truly knowledgeable, the tours were a terrible way to end a trip filled with authentic and lively interactions in Puerto Jimenez and the forest. We really enjoyed our authentic jungle stay, and will have one foot in the rainforest for a long time!
