The Demory-Wortman House is the centerpiece of the working organic farm area of the Blue Ridge Center for Environmental Stewardship, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The original house, built in 1848, was a two-story log cabin that shows considerable German influence typical of the time period. Sometime around 1900 a major addition was added to the original log house and the logs were enclosed. The Demory-Wortman House has been nicely renovated and is outfitted with comfortable, rustic furnishings.
