Villa Marie - Penthouse in the Vienna Forest

3 terraces, 2 sleepingrooms

Stay on the outskirts of the Vienna Woods, let yourself be woken up by twittering birds and enjoy breakfast in a glass-veranda from where you can enjoy the sight of the rolling hills of the Vienna Woods. If you want to attend cultural events in Vienna, the highly efficient underground U4 will take you to the city-centre - where most of the historical sites are situated - in just a few minutes. (In fact, it takes only 30 minutes from the living-room to St. Stephen’s Square and 20 minutes to the castle Schönbrunn which may well be faster than from a central district in Vienna as you do not have to change trams or buses).

History of Villa Marie
In the year 1876 builder Leopold Stoizer took the decision to build a summer residence for his family in Purkersdorf, along the railway tracks, one of the first addresses of suburbia: out of the city during the summer to avoid the heat.
The family found space and quiet at the outskirts and could arrive by train. On the weekend the landlord and his friends enjoyed pleasant days in the country. There are still many villas along the railroad, like pearls on a chain. Villa Marie is one of those. Originally there was a bowling alley at the north side and a garden pavilion for playing cards. A year after completing the house, a veranda was added.
There were many owners in the 30ies until the architect Ernst Kirsch bought it and lived in the Belle Etage on the 1st floor. In 1972 Franz Dinda bought the property, but didn’t live there. Everyday he came from Floridsdorf working on the renovation and adaption of the villa. My family bought the property together with friends in 1987. We tried to restore the original situation, the concept is to keep the original building as far as possible, but to adapt it to modern use: all modern facilities were renewed and brought up to high standard. The main entrance was activated and restored to its original status.
Now we are the owners of the house, since our friends moved out. The attic was adapted to self catering apartments, consisting of an attractive penthouse (100m2). In April 2008 4* were extended and guarantee the highest standard.
