“Truly Amazing property!” There are no words to describe how wonderful it was to wake up to the magnificent views at Casa Espanola. The concierge and staff at my vacation Costa Rica were very attentive to all our needs. We were there for my girlfriend's bachelorette party and we were a group of 15! From the beginning, geralyn and Amy did a great job planning out our trip. I was very anxious about how the trip was going to turn out because i had never been to Costa Rica, but they were always so prompt with responding to my emails and executing all that was promised. Geralyn set up all of our excursions ahead of time. She even scheduled massages at the property! You won't want to leave this place! The pictures do not do it justice! It is even more beautiful in person. We posted photos on instagram with the hashtag #casaespanola so that you can see some photos from our experience. There were 4 floors and each had an ocean view! It was refreshing being able to wake up to that every morning! Every day, the cleaning staff came and cleaned up the property thoroughly, so the house was so nice every time we got back from our daily outing. Oh and our private chef, Chef Harold, was amazing!!!! He and his wife are so nice and the food is delicious! They have a menu on site and they will cook anything you request as long as they can get the ingredients. I would recommend Costa Rican cuisine because it is really yummy. All you have to pay for is the cost of food. And it is definitely worth it! The beaches are close by and easy to get to. The cost of transportation is about $1.75 per person each way. We had breakfast at Cafe Milagro. Their food is really good and the coffee drinks are deelish! You must see Manuel Antonio park. It is about a 20 minute stroll through the park where you see cute monkeys and other exotic animals. Once you get to the end of the park, you get to Manuel Antonio beach which is totally worth it! We had a blast. We also went to playa biesanz which is nice and private. Our trip was at the beginning of rainy season (May 28th-June 1st). I was really anxious about the weather because of the weather reports. I will say this: please disregard what you see on your weather app. It said that it was 100% precipitation and that it would be cloudy and raining every day. The weather was amazing pretty much all day. It would get cloudy in the late evening and it did rain a couple nights, but Costa Rica is so amazing that it didn't even bother us. Especially since we stayed at casa Española. I forgot to mention that they even provide you with 2 cell phones in case you need to get in touch with your concierge! How amazing is that? You can use the phone to make any local calls. So after the first couple days, i was able to call my own taxi lol I’m sure some of the other girls will post a review so you can definitely see how happy we were with our experience! Stay here! You won't be disappointed! To Amy, Geralyn and the rest of the staff at My Vacation Costa Rica, Thank you again for your hard work and the amazing experience!

“We are hooked.” This was our second trip to the Casa and we must say it was better than the first. My wife and I had 10 days to explore and take in the Country like we had never before. We found the rainy season (Sept) more to our liking and would highly recommend that time of the year to truly experience the beauty of the region. Cannot say enough about Randy's staff and hospitality, something truly unique in todays environment. As I Titled this review as being hooked for it truly did hook us, to the point we have purchased a house east of Parrita and are moving up our retirement dates. Pura Vida Jane and Bill Wright Lake Wales, FL. Ps. Randy sorry for being late on this review, however we have been busy with making the move. (Neighbor)

“Beautiful Home in Manuel antonio!” Our stay in Manuel antonio was wonderful. We went with a group of 7 and the house accommodated us well. We made a few breakfasts and dinners in the kitchen and even used the grill a few nights. We loved spending our morning and evenings poolside before or after the beach. Tom, the house manager, made our stay superb. He was able to coordinate day trips, tell us about the best restaurants in town, as well as take us to pick up groceries. We went zip lining, enjoyed a sunset cruise, and visited the national park. We got in ample beach time each day by relying on the buses or taxis which were affordable and timely. We ate delicious seafood every day and enjoyed the happy hours. You can pay in dollars, but it is easier to have colones. Would definitely stay again!

“Puts the "ahh" back in "awesome"” The following description can only begin to illustrate what a lovely place this is. Look at the pictures, it is actually as good as they promise. The house is beautifully situated on a hill side overlooking sea and forests. It is convenient as well as romantic. Our youngest spent a lot of time exploring new angels from which you could see through the house and the many balconies. From the house we saw - not glimpsed, but observed up close and for sometimes extended periods of time: A sloth, monkeys, armadillos, a giant toad, hummingbirds, lots of colorful birds, lizards, land crabs and a poisonous frog. All though we kept the doors and windows open night and day when we were home, we saw no unwelcome creatures inside the house. Only the geckos who hunted along the ceilings during the night. Howler monkeys howled when the sun set and rose. The area provided excellent possibilities for rest and recreation: We tried mangrove kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, white water rafting and zip-lining. All arranged by the care taker's daughter and all within 30 minutes drive from the house, where we were picked up for the tours. We walked the 10 minutes to the closest "secret" beach or drove for five minutes to get to the more public, but far from crowded, wide beach. Every night we ate at a new restaurant of which there are plenty within walking distance. Some nights we also drove the 10 minutes to Quepos, the nearest town. Any needs we might discover during our stay was taken immediately care of by the caretaker. The only drawback of the place is that it is inaccessible to people with disabilities. The price of the breathtaking view is a stair with exactly 100 rather breathtaking steps from the road to the door. All in all a very nice place to spend your holidays.

“Great Value!” We stayed at La Nina for a month from mid-January to mid-February. It is within a gated property, making it very secure. The cottage has a fully-equipped kitchen with all the utensils and appliances one needs to make meals. The appliances are fully functioning and sparkling clean. As a matter of fact, we made many dinners 'at home' because fresh fruits, veggies, meat and seafood are readily available from the supermarket only a few minutes from the cottage. The weekend farmers' market is not to be missed for those who love to cook. There is a small selection of dvds in the cottage. Bring your own and relax in the evenings with a beer or two, or a bottle of wine. You can also play music from your own device and enjoy! Although the daytime temperatures were higher than normal while we were there, the four ceiling fans kept the place cool and comfortable. If you really need to cool off, the swimming pool is the pièce de résistance! There is plenty of storage space in the bedroom. The ensuite bathroom is spacious. Alicia, the housekeeper, comes three times a week to clean and refresh towels and bed linens. Maxwell and Sascha, Pete's canine ambassadors, will always remind you of their presence albeit in the most unintrusive ways! For what we were asked to pay for the cottage, it is the best deal in town.

“Very modern place with upgraded key essentials” I have stayed in places where the photos and the actual place simply do not match up. This place is beautiful and even better in person. We by chance stayed while the owners were also on vacation and what a pleasant experience. They are passionate about this place down to the detail of the sheet thread count and quality of the towels. There concierge was excellent and the recommendations for everything from food to adventures was right on. The way the small houses are laided out are very private and quaint. The decorations to the kitchen items provided were very impressive. The location is close to everything. I am big on bathrooms and was very satisfied. We will definitely stay here again this summer or for sure next year. The price was very competitive and after looking around at other places in this price range nothing and I mean nothing compared.

“Absolutely fantastic” We were a family of 8 travelling from Canada... 4 daughters aged 12 to 23, son-in-law and boyfriend, plus my wife and I. Everything about the trip was fantastic. The listing was not accurate...because the pictures don't do it justice! Unbelievable size, layout, comfort, etc. and what a view. The monkeys came by most days and the weather was perfect. Absolutely perfect. We were very comfortable with 8 people ...and there was room for more. Alex is excellent in his organizing of all our activities. We tried the horse back riding, repelling, national park tour and catamaran sail. All highly recommended. He organizes for pick up and drop off at the front door. Local restaurants were excellent too. Although cab drivers told us the walk to the beach was either "too long or too dangerous (due to traffic)", we walked it every day without problem. It was a great way to get some exercise after spending a day at the beach. Another thing alex did was organize an on-site meal provided by a local chef (Kukula?). It was one of the best meals we have ever had, and we do a lot of travelling. We didn't rent a car, as the local grocery store was within walking distance, as were the restaurants, and we didn't mind the 20 minute walk to the beach. We flew to San Jose, and alex organized the 2 1/2 trip for pick up and drop off at the end of the stay. The house was cleaned every day (we didn't realize that), and there are laundry facilities on site. We definitely over-packed. This is a flip flop and short/swim suit vacation. We didn't need to wear a sweater at any time during our stay. We will go back and I recommend this for families, couples, etc. The only caution I would have is for those with small children. The building code is no where near the restrictions that we have in Canada, and as such, the area around the main floor, infinity pool and stairs may be a safety hazard for small children. For adults, it adds to the beauty of this spectacular place! A+++

“Over the top Hospitality and Care!” My husband and I made the decision to visit Light of Dawn after our daughter's awesome honeymoon and wedding experience at Light of Dawn 3 years prior to our stay. This is a completely worry-free travel experience because Deborah and Pete attend to your every need. From your transportation, food, and excursions, your hosts gladly advise and accommodate whatever you desire. You will feel like family with Edgar, your chef, Clara, your housekeeper, Deborah and Pete, your hosts as you enjoy the lush beauty of Costa Rica. My husband even cooked with Edgar during our stay, fun! We did the zip-line, river rafting, sunset sail, and the Vanilla plantation tours and loved them all. The people of Costa Rica are so humble, kind, and joyful. They love sharing their culture with you. Enjoy!

A perfect family Christmas holiday at Casa Brisas

Our family of 8: my husband, myself and our three grown children and their spouses were looking for a special Christmas destination this year, away from the cold of the Northeast and Canada, and couldn't have been more pleased that we found the perfect spot, Randy and Claudia’s Casa Brisas. This was the first trip to Costa Rica for all of us and we wanted opportunities for some adventures (like deep sea fishing, surfing and zip-lining) and also a comfortable place for some downtime, away from the crowds and bustle of beach towns. This beautiful home suited our needs perfectly. The setting is idyllic, with views over the Pacific, toucans and other birds in the trees, hammocks to lounge on for reading and a fantastic infinity pool ready to jump in day or evening. The house had 4 large private bedrooms, so each couple had at least a queen size bed and privacy. The decks, balconies and grounds gave everyone a chance to sit peacefully and read or go for a quiet walk. We had originially thought we would be going into town in the evenings for dinner, but in fact, it was so beautiful at the house that after a day’s adventures, we were happy to settle in, cook in the well-equipped kitchen, talk, star gaze, swim and relax. This was good, as the road down the hill into town is tough in the evening. I also cannot complete a note on the house without mentioning, as others have before me, how helpful Randy and Claudia were to our family. Starting with working with me months in advance on planning, Randy gave me many suggestions for tour operators for activities like deep sea fishing and zip-lining that I am glad we booked in advance, as Christmas week is busy. Randy met us at the airport, with the Toyota and escorted us down the coast. He really thought of everything, including had arranging to make sure we had some food in the house for breakfast the following morning. Randy was just a huge help keeping things on track when one of the couple’s flight was delayed and we had to arrange a taxi for them, Randy dealt with the drive and even went into town himself late in the evening to drive the late arrivers up to the house… Try getting service like that at a big hotel!! Having the option to use the Toyota SUV while at the house is a great perk too. My husband and I did rent a car and then used the kids used Toyota for transportation, so we were all able to head out on separate adventures when appropriate or have easy travel room for all 8 of us. Do rent an SUV or other 4 X 4, as you need it on the roads to up Casa Brisas (Randy had warned me). Do not hesitate to book this beautiful home, you’ll have a wonderful time and be glad you did.see more

Home away from Home

I have to apologize for being so late on my review as I was 8 months pregnant when we travelled and have since been busy with an infant This rental is exactly what we were looking for...affordable, comfortable, and centrally located. I travelled with my husband and two teenage boys. The boys shared the futon out in the living room and said it was perfect. The whole property inside and out is clean and well taken care of. Since you have to drive to the beach, it was so nice having a private pool right outside the door. We enjoyed the Iguana every morning and the family of monkey that came through on our last day there. Barry is very accommodating to your needs and it was such a pleasure to meet him. We would definitely stay here again! FYI...Barry likes to keep the place secure for your safety so the doors automatically lock when they close. On your first morning when you walk outside to take in the beauty, take your key with you :)see more

Debra's 50th Birthday

By far one of the best vacations ever. Casa Espanola is a fabulous, upscale villa that is spacious, modern and clean. I traveled with a group of 20 people and everyone was in awe. I probably will never go to a hotel again after the Casa Espanola experience. The dining area was big enough for everyone, thus producing a total family vibe at mealtime. The rooms are big and the beds are huge. Chef Glenda and her daughter were the absolute best and the menu selections are just too many to name. The ride from SJO airport was 2 1/2 hrs but no one seemed to mind the long ride because it gave you an opportunity to sightsee. We also took the local bus in Manuel Antonio for about .67 cents....what a deal. I can't say enough about this fabulous place. I can't wait to go back. Thanks to Amy, Hazel and the staff at Casa Espanola.see more

2 weeks in heaven

Living on 200+ acres of rain-forest for 2 weeks with my wife and our 5 & 7 year old daughters was the trip of a life time. We will be telling fun tails from this trip for the rest of our lives. My favorite thing was waking up at sunrise with my daughters and competing to see who could find the most unique bird species and capture it on camera. We counted 10 different kinds of hummingbirds, numerous Toucans, 3 Stunningly brilliant blue birds and the list goes on. After that we would go an a hiking adventure to the river and waterfalls. When the morning adventures were done, we would load up the car and do an adventure in Quepos. As you already know the road is long and bumpy, but get a 4 wheel drive vehicle and enjoy the drive. You normally pay hundreds of dollars to go on a family 4 wheel drive "adventure", but it is included everyday in this awesome estate. In fact one day, we spent an entire day driving farther up the mountainside with random stops to picnicking and hike. My 5 & 7 year old daughters voted the Zip-line adventure as their favorite. My favorite Quepos adventure was deep sea fishing. We caught 12 sailfish in one day and had a 400+ pound Marlin on the line for 15 minutes until the line broke. There is nothing like seeing a 400 pound fish jump out of the water 30 feet from the boat. Peter and Deborah were incredible hosts and will go above and beyond to make your stay memorable. Bottom line, we highly recommend this retreat to anybody who loves nature & adventure!!see more

Super spot for extended family

Our extended family (ages 6 - 80) had a blast at Punto de Vista. The house is beautiful and comfortable, the staff is welcoming and helpful. Desiree and her staff prepared breakfast and dinner every day - outstanding! Oliver and Josue helped us arrange tours (bird watching, ziplining, boat trip, etc.), shuttled us to the beach and back (the walk is short but the hill was tough for a few of us), bartended, answered our questions about all the flora and fauna, and overall made us feel truly at home. Loved our family dance party night, the gorgeous views, and drinks by the pool. Overall feel: Luxurious but down home at the same time!see more

Great property in a great location!

This charming property is tucked away in lush vegetation but convenient enough to take a 10 minute walk to the town of Quepos or a 10 minute taxi/bus ride to Manuel Antonio beach and the National Park. Upon arrival the property manager, Tom, pleasantly greeted us and assisted us with our luggage. He let us explore the property which was clean and spacious with a nice open flow throughout the property. Tom recommended a few locations for dining and entertainment and also drove us around town to point out things we might want/need to visit (grocerty store, bank, eateries, beach, etc.). Throughout our stay Tom called to check on us and offered assistance if we needed anything. There was also a basket of fresh local fruit for us to enjoy. The pool was well kept and the neighborhood was very quaint. The housekeeper was pleasant and did a great job keeping the place clean for us. I would definitely recommend this property for a relaxing getaway!see more
