Additional Location Information

Tourism on offer in Terres de l'Ebre can be divided into three categories: natural areas, the natural heritage and gastronomy. If you are interested in discovering really beautiful places in these four southern Catalan regions, a few carefully selected routes to follow either on foot, by car or by bicycle, will give you the chance to enjoy the scenery surrounding the Ebre River, the Delta and Els Ports Massif. They are mostly easy routes and recommended for those who are looking for close contact with nature. Sant Jaume trail, the Mediterranean trail and the Stars of the South trail are just a few examples.

However, apart from nature, there are numerous archaeological remains from diverse cultures and civilizations which have lived in the Ebre regions. The Route of the Iberians or the museum-style sites where the Ebre Battle took place, are two kinds of cultural visits giving you the chance to discover the history of these areas and the character of the people living there. Furthermore, you can finish off every outing with a good meal, and try the different local cuisine combining products from the sea and the mountains. The Terra Alta Wine Route, the Rice Route and the Oyster Route in the Ebre Delta will guide your taste buds on a route of different flavours round Terres de l'Ebre.

Also we have the Via Verda: The Green Track: Cycling between the Ebre and the rock faces of Els Ports Massif.

The mediterranean trail: The GR-92 is a long trail which crosses the whole of Catalonia from North to South, bordering the Mediterranean coast. It links Portbou in Alt Empordà, to the town of Ulldecona in the Montsià region. The southern part of Pont de l'Olivar bridge (near Ulldecona) is the starting point for this route. The track goes across the town, towards the Montsià mountain range. Then it follows old tracks (used for livestock), past fountains, reservoirs, and olive groves, where little dry-stone shelters can be seen. After going past the Mas del Comú, you arrive at La Foradada viewpoint (650 m. high) where you can enjoy a fantastic view of Els Ports Massif, the Ebre Delta and the coastline. Here the path starts to descend towards Amposta crossing the inland part of the Ebre Delta to the coastal village of L'Ampolla. There, the GR-92 joins the Ronda trail which leads to L'Ametlla de Mar, past coves, beaches and over secluded rocky cliffs.

The Sant Jaume de l'Ebre trail crosses the regions of Montsià, Baix Ebre and Terra Alta and enters Aragón and La Rioja, to join the French trail in Logroño. This route starts in the village of Deltebre, and follows the course of the river through Amposta, Tortosa, Aldover and Xerta. Before arriving in Benifallet, it turns onto the trail bordering Canaletes River, passes by La Fontcalda Sanctuary and goes to Gandesa along the Navarro Valley trail. There it reaches Batea, and soon after enters the region of Aragón.

Also there is PORT AVENTURA park in 40 minutes away from us.

The cultural, social and natural importance of the Ebre River encouraged hikers and trekkers in Spain to create the GR-99, known as the Camí Natural de l'Ebre (Ebre Nature Path). This route follows the course of the river from Reinosa, where it begins, down to the estuary. It is about 1,150 kilometres long, and divided into 59 stretches of 20 kilometres each, which cross the autonomous regions of Cantàbria, Castilla-Leon, La Rioja, the Basque Country, Navarra, Aragón and Catalonia.

The Ebre Nature Trail is the first of the great riverbank trails in what is known as the “Nature Itinerary Network”, promoted by the Ministry of Environment. With this network of trails, it is hoped that the public can become more aware of the natural values associated with high quality environmental surroundings that rivers produce. At the same time, they also try to favour rural development in the areas they pass through. In fact, from the very first moment, this project of trails was created as a special infrastructure for leisure, sustainable tourism, sport and education.

From Casa Gran there are differents walkings to: -La Font del Teix, Serra de Cardó, etc. We can provide you more information.

Casa Gran is within 30 min. far from two Nationals Parks:

-El Delta de l'Ebre: -fields of rice and natural beaches.
-Els Ports de Besseit: -mountains and rivers with clear water to swing on summer.

Also don't miss the History: we have at 5 minutes the Miravet Castle.

As you can see, there is a lot to discover in our place for all kind ... mountains, rivers, beaches, etc... hope to see you and discover it....
