(Minimum of one week rental required) Situated at the edge of the sparkling azure waters of the Amalfi Coast is the beautiful residence of Villa Cartiera. Within easy walking distance of Minori, with the medieval town of Ravello located just above, the Villa is an ideal destination spot. Owned and tended by an old aristocratic family, the property is a former paper mill that has been lovingly restored. Like many of the homes in the area, Villa Cartiera has been converted into two large, separate apartments that can either be rented together to sleep eight, or separately to sleep four each. The views from the home are magnificent; the water is just below the property with private access to the sea (children should be carefully supervised). Private sunbathing on a terraced cliff is available to all guests with small plunge pool for children. A stay at Villa Cartiera will delight the senses with its stunning Mediterranean locale and proximity to Ravello and its annual music festival. Apartment Due is situated on two levels, its independent entrance accessed by 42 steps down from the coastal road and onto a large, lovely shaded terrace with wisteria pergola and outdoor furniture and lighting. From the terrace is a tranquil sitting room, leading to the well-equipped kitchen (stove, oven, fridge/freezer and dishwasher). Charming arches help define the inviting and spacious living room, which is comfortably furnished and includes a satellite TV. The large double bedroom has a window opening out to the garden and an ensuite bathroom with a shower. The twin bedroom (convertible into a double) has French windows looking out onto the terrace and the sea beyond. Down the corridor is a bathroom with tub. Shaded parking is available for a medium-sized car. Not to be missed in Ravello is the Wagner Music Festival held annually during the months of July and August. In attendance are some of the world's most accomplished musicians and conductors. The festival is held in the hopelessly romantic and scenic gardens of the historic and grand Villa Rufolo. Created in 1853, the gardens overlook the piazza Vescovado and the Bay of Naples and are infused with exotic colors, delightful blooms and ancient, crumbling towers.
