Description from owner

Description

Truly, this is a beautiful, incredible Lodge sitting in the most unique location. Real WOW factor here. It has a beach on both sides, one of those being world famous Oke Bay.

You'll love the all day sun and from the front deck, sweeping views of the entrance to the Bay of Islands! Huge deck at the back for entertaining. Large lawn area for playing.

Dolphins often come into Oke Bay and many a visitor to Oke Bay Lodge has swum with them.

If you are into walking you won't be disappointed. There are many interesting walks: old whaling station, Kauri forest, sunken ship wreck, and many other shorter walks in and around Rawhiti. Once you are there, and you settle in, believe me, you won't want to go anywhere else! But if you do...

Other things to do include: visit Russell's historic township and once the colonial capital of New Zealand (35 minutes by car).

In and around Russell are Russell Museum; Big game fishing in the outer waters of the Bay of Islands Adventure; Parks; Art galleries; R Tucker Thompson tall sailing ship which cruises the islands; Sunset cruising; Restaurants, Cafes, and Wineries; Boat cruises around the Bay of Islands; The 'Hole in the Rock'; Horse riding ; The Okiato-Opua car ferry; Kayaking in the sheltered waters of the harbour; Opua to Paihia Coastal walk; Orongo Bay oyster farms; Sport fishing; Sunday markets at Kerikeri - 45 minutes north; Water-sports, diving, snorkeling and surfing; Yachting and twilight sailing (seasonal); Native forests and glow-worm caves.

Points of Interest: Christ Church in Russell, the oldest church in NZ; Waitangi Treaty Grounds, Pompellier Mission, Flagstaff/Te Maiki Hill etc

Walks: Walkway from Rawhiti to the historic whaling station at Whangamumu; Walkway from Okiato to Orongo Bay; Walkway to Cape Brett Lighthouse.

To watch a great video of the property, go to You Tube and search for "cape brett walking track and Oke Bay Lodge".

The Lodge is in the process of being restored.

Stunning views. Rare location. No neighbours. Sitting in native bush. All day sun. Famous Oke Bay!

Absolute stunning location. Swim with dolphins if you are lucky. Walk the world famous Cape Brett track. Incredible diving, fishing, snorkelling at Oke Bay. Safe swimming for children. Oodles of things to do for the whole family. Sensational views from the Lodge.

We don't sync the calendar on Trip Advisor with other sites where we are listed so it will appear that we are not booked at all! But the reality is we are heavily booked. So if you want to book, just inquire and we'll let you know.

Response from the owner Hi Linda, thank you for your generous review. Having a pod of Orcas turn up is pretty special. Usually it's dolphins, so you were extra lucky. You left the Villa beautifully clean. Thanks for that. We'd love to have you again any time. Hope the rest of 2016 turns out to be fantastic for you! All the best :) See you next time!
