Beautiful Yorkshire Dales cottage

A delightful, stone-built terraced cottage, in the peaceful hamlet of Ellingstring, five miles from Masham and Middleham in beautiful Wensleydale. Additional Location Information

In the heart of the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Ellingstring is a quiet hamlet near the summit of the hill on which it is built so that within a short walk of several yards there are panoramic views of the surrounding area. It is situated near the historic market towns of Masham and Leyburn where there are lovely pubs and restaurants as well as weekly markets and frequent craft fairs. Masham holds a famous sheep fair towards the end of September and in Leyburn the Friday sheep and cattle auction is well worth a visit to get a flavour of the Dales farming way of life and see some real old characters. York is just 50 minutes away if you wish to visit that historic city with numerous attractions not least the Minster, the amazing Railway Museum and Castle Museum. The famous James Heriot's home and surgery are also at nearby Thirsk and the large mansions, abbeys and castles are too numerous to mention. You will need a car which can be parked off the road opposite the cottage or a bicycle or motorbike as there is no public transport from Ellingstring itself.
