A mezzanine gallery runs around this central space, which was originally the barn of the old farm house. La Mirande is a nice and poetic place to find rest. The tastefully furnished house and the big miraculous garden adapt themselves perfectly in the nature and the look in the valley is phenomenal. Gray is an attentive and winning host, his cookeries and his excursions are excellent. And thus a stay in his house is like balm for the soul.
Thanks Gray for your hospitality!

La Mirande is a peaceful and happy house, with lots of good walking and interesting places to visit. The view is outstanding and the food is plentiful and delicious, with lots of local produce. I came away feeling relaxed and refreshed, and can recommend La Mirande to anyone who wants to get away from the heat and bustle of the lowlands for a while.

La Mirande situated on the foot hills on the west side of the Rhone valley will provide an opportunity to see and enjoy parts of France not usually part of a travellers itinerary.
You will be imbedded in the rural life of this most traditional farming area.
Your convivial host Gray Veredon will share his vast knowledge of the history and culture of this region and one will leave in the knowledge that the experience will be one of the most enduring of your journey.
The accommodation La Mirande, is quite unique and has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, along with the food and service which is of a personal nature.
The ability of being able to use la Mirande as a base provides the opportunity to use Gary's intermit knowledge of the region to visit a much wider areas of this part of France with day excursions from Lyon to the Mediterranean

Gray has beautifully renovated his old cottage into a luxury country retreat.
It is secluded and comfortable.
You can fill your day with activities guided by Gray as a tour guide with his extensive knowledge of the area. There are wineries, markets, 5000 year old caves or just walk to the neighbouring goat farm to buy his yummy cheese.
Or you could choose a peaceful spot on the property to read, contemplate or just chill.
Gray created some gourmet delights for us but you have the option to self cater. Our whole family enjoyed it.
We should have stayed longer.

“Beauty, comfort, and adventures in "la France profonde"”

My husband and I have visited La Mirande twice, once for a week in May 2008 which we spent in the self-catering gite. It was enormous for two people, beautifully furnished and equipped, and everything totally up-to-date. It was marvelous to be in the middle of the tranquil "campagne" of "la France profonde", surrounded by farms, beautiful scenery, good walking paths and roads. And the property itself is very spacious, nice to sit out in the sun reading for a day of quiet. There are many interesting day-trips in the region - canoeing on the ardeche river with its great stone arch and the exhibition of the Caves de Chauvet with their beautiful drawings, older than Lascaux, I think, (recently featured in a film Cave of Dreams by Werner Herzog), Valence, Vienne, Aubenas, Le Puy en Velay in the auvergne, etc. We have kept in touch with the very friendly owner, Gray Veredon, and we spent several days in the big house in late March 2013 in one of the new suites. We were able to sample his wonderful cuisine over three days. His neighbor Jacky raises goats, pigs and horses, and the cheese and sausages are delicious. Although we have not been on any guided tours with him, Gray is a professional tour guide, fluent in French, German, and of course English. He will be offering day trips to his guests, especially for those who may not be comfortable driving the curvy roads in the region. This is definitely a great place to stay,
